SISTER ANNA EVELYN NEUMIER, S.G.M Sister Anna Evelyn Neumier, Grey Nun, passed away peacefully November 7, 2014 at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre). She was 100 years and three months old, and 76 years of religious life. Sister Anna was a gentle, faith-filled, joyful and prayerful woman with an open, friendly personality. Her leitmotiv was God is so good! It's so great to be part of Creation! Sister's main ministries were Cooking and Catechist. She spent 28 years as a cook in St. Boniface General Hospital, Lebret, SK; Fort Smith, Chipewyan, NWT; and Catechist 13 years in Hay River, Fort Good Hope, Fort Liard, Chipewyan, Uranium City, NWT. When she retired from active ministry she continued to serve in varied community services and pastoral work with the sick and the dying in the Edmonton area and Esterhazy. Although she found it somewhat a problem at times to adjust to the many moves, Sisters emphasized that "no matter where you are, life is what you make it." When she retired for good in 2009 at age 95, she spent more time in dialogue with her God and knitting slippers (by the hundreds) for the poor and many others who benefitted from her warm footies! The family and the Grey Nuns would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the devoted, understanding and compassionate staff at 3DE in Actionmarguerite and all those who have spent prayerful time with our dear friend. A prayer service and viewing will be held November 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Despins Residence, 151 Despins Street. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Sister Anna was a dear friend of my Mother also on 3DE. She misses her so. My Mom is very sad but I remind her how lucky we are to know such a kind and gentle person. You are forever in our hearts. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Jackie Swan (Daughter of a Friend of Sister Anna's) on: Nov 12, 2014

  • Rest in Peace Sister Anna. I'll smile when I think of you knitting slippers for all the angels in heaven. - Posted by: Carmen Oake (Friend) on: Nov 11, 2014

  • My most heartfelt sympathy to Uncle Freddie, her only living sibling, and her many nieces and nephews..And to all her Sisters in Christ (Grey Nuns). She always said "I am waiting for better things to happen in the next world" "There are better things waiting for us". Sister was a very good example of Faith for her family to follow. I was very Blessed to spend great times with her, even as recent as late Sept. Sister was so very fluent in French, which she learned many years ago. I loved to listen to her speak and pray in French. Sister - We will miss you, but are very thankful for the example you have been for us...Now we pray that we grow in Faith as she did...Rest in Peace Sister Anna, with our loving Saviour...Until we meet, Angela Ostapovich( Neumeier). - Posted by: Angela Ostapovich (Neice) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Sister Anna and the Grey Nuns. One phrase I remember Sister Anna to always say when someone did a good deed was: "There Will Be A Special Place For You When You Get To Heaven" ... My Dear Sister Anna ... I Know You Now Are In That Precious Place ... "HEAVEN" God Bless You ... Thank you for being a wonderful influence. Until we meet again ...
