ARTHUR JEANSON On November 7, Dad passed away peacefully surrounded by family, love and laughter after a "crappy" battle with pancreatic cancer and went to join his beloved wife Betty. Left to mourn his passing are his children Daniel (Sheila), Claude, Claudette (Ed) and Monique (Darrell). He will also be missed by his treasured grandchildren Ben, Kate, Céline (Chad), Denis, Viny, Alex, Joseph, Samuel and Jérémie and two great-grandchildren Chloe and Caden. Also left behind are his brother Germain and sisters Hortense, Rita and Marcelle. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Betty (McCaughan), his daughter Claudette in infancy, his parents Antonin and Anastasie Jeanson, his brothers Clovis, Roland, Philippe and Gerald, his sister Alice, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Leo and Anne McCaughan, and many in-laws. Dad was employed with St. Boniface Hospital for 45 years. He fancied calling himself a doctor after working there for so long and claimed he could cure any ailment. Upon his retirement in 2005, he became actively involved in volunteering and was a volunteer extraordinaire for many organizations. If a driver was needed to go anywhere, Art was your man. He rarely said no to help out as a volunteer or help out a friend in need. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (Goulet Council) and on the board of the Foyer Vincent for many years. Pépère's motto in life was "anything for the grandkids" and he lived that motto to the fullest. His grandkids were his pride and joy. He loved nothing better than to hang out with the kids and watch them excel in their endeavours, such as curling, baseball, music, hockey and many other activities. The pride he had for his grandchildren was second to none. He will be greatly missed by all of them. Dad was a very active person, such as going golfing and building things. He claimed to be a jack of all trades, master of none. However, he was the first person his kids and grandkids called when they needed something fixed or built. He was a great starter, just sometimes not a great finisher, but the input was always appreciated. One of his greatest pleasures was the cottage he and Betty built with their own hands. The grandkids loved going to Pépère's cottage. A funeral service in Art's honour will be held on Thursday, November 13, at 2:30 p.m., at Eglise Précieux-Sang, 200 Kenny Street, with interment to follow immediately afterwards. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Coates, who was a great source of comfort to Dad. The family also would like to thank all the nurses and health care workers in keeping Dad comfortable during his illness. He always called them his angels and treated them with respect. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Art's name to Winnipeg Harvest or the Riverview Health Centre. He is a great man and I miss him so much. Being his grandson, losing him really hurt me and it took awhile for me to walk into his house which was right beside our his older daughter, and my mom Claudette. I hope that I feel better doing this and I really miss him so much. - Posted by: Sam Thibert (Grandson ) on: Oct 16, 2018

Nice tribute today to Uncle Art. Condolences to you all on your loss and the Oopsy on my dad's part saying Uncle Art & Aunt Betty were married in 1980; may need to buy my dad better reading glasses. We all know you as Art & Betty's kids, born 'in' wedlock. Love to you and yours. - Posted by: Sharon Jeanson (cousin) on: Nov 13, 2014

Were the newbies at the lake. While doing a complete reno on our cottage, Art from the 1st time we met him always offered his expertise and a hand with guidance. We also enjoyed a cold one occasionally. He made us feel right at home and we felt we had known him for years!!! They don't make him like that anymore!!! To the family - Take Care! He was a work of ART! Glenn & Brenda Kisil - Posted by: Glenn & Brenda Kisil (Neighbor at the lake) on: Nov 12, 2014

So sad to hear of the passing of Art. I bowled on his team for a few years, and he called us "Art's Angels". What a great sense of humour and a caring man. Condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Kim Scharf () on: Nov 10, 2014

Mononcle Arthur was one of the best. I have such fond memories babysitting the kids when they lived on la rue Dugas. Daniel, Cyke, Claudette, Monique…my deepest sympathies to all of you. Your dad was such a great guy and you're so right when you say that his grandkids were his pride and joy but he sure cherished each and every one of you as well. He'd lovingly speak of you guys as ''ma Monique'', ''ma Claudette'', ''mon Daniel, ''mon Cyke'' and now Mononcle Arthur est parti voir sa Betty. Simply a few words to offer my sincere condolences to the Jeanson family. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in your lives. My most sincere sympathy to all family members. Regrettably, I will be at the Shriner's Children Hospital in Minneapolis on Thursday so I will not be able to attend the funeral and celebration of Uncle's life. He always held a very dear/cherished place in my heart and I have many, many, many joyous and often hilarious memories of him. He will be truly missed. - Posted by: JEANETTE VERPLAETSE (NIECE) on: Nov 10, 2014

Mon Oncle Arthur was a great guy. I have many fond memories of spending time with him and his family when they lived just down the road on Dugas street. Whether playing "shots" against the garage, or baseball in the field, we always seemed to have such fun with him. The world seems a little less joyful now that he is gone. To Daniel, Cyke, Claudette, and Monique, please know that I am thinking of you all in your time of sorrow, and I hope that you and your families take some comfort in that your Dad is no longer suffering. He will be missed by all. - Posted by: Marc Johnon (Nephew) on: Nov 10, 2014

My most sincere sympathy. I am presently in Montreal on a leave of absence, otherwise I would be co-celebrating at the funeral. Germain is a close friend and a very active parishioner at my parish. I have celebrated a Mass in Arthur's memory and for repose of his soul. Fr. Ron csv - Posted by: Ronald Leger (Pastor of Holy Family Parish) on: Nov 10, 2014
