VERONICA MATYSZEWSKI (ZUBRYCKI)
Date of Passing: Nov 12, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERONICA MATYSZEWSKI (nee ZUBRYCKI) November 4, 1939 - November 12, 2014 After a courageous and lengthy batter with cancer, Veronica's life on earth ended November 12, 2014 at the age of 75. She was predeceased by her husband Donald and her parents, Anne and Joe Zubrycki. Left to mourn her passing are her children Michael (Jackie), David (Cindy), Christine (Trevor), grandchildren Kathleen (Nick), Robert, Ashley, Corey, Travis, Lindsay, great-grandchild Lauren, brother Vernon Zubrycki (Hilda), as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Veronica grew up in Winnipeg's North End, where, at the age of 18, she met Donald at a church youth dance. They married in 1959 and in 1972 built a house in St. Andrews where they raised their three children. Veronica will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, granny and sister. She enjoyed playing her organ, watching the birds in her yard, trips to Las Vegas, Thursday night bowling and cribbage, a game she excelled at. Most of all, Mom cherished time spent with her family. Mom's door was always open and her home baked treats were waiting for all who stopped by. Especially enjoyed by her grandchildren were the homemade soups Mom named "hockey/ringette player soups". Thank you to the supportive staff at Selkirk General Hospital. At her request, instead of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Siloam Mission or CancerCare. We are truly saddened to hear of the loss of Veronica. What a wonderful neighbor and all around kind person. She was a very sweet lady who had a soft spot for our kids and we in turn had a soft spot for her. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family. - Posted by: Brenda Darcy Ballance (neighbor) on: Dec 17, 2014

Hours were spent around Veronica's kitchen table drinking coffee and talking about everything. Truly sorry to here of her passing before Peter. I think Don went first just so he could be an expert on heaven before Veronica and Peter got there. - Posted by: Shannon Smarz (Community club,, friend and our husbands were great antagonists.) on: Nov 22, 2014

Although we had lost touch for a few years, lately I kept thinking that I should meet her for lunch some day. I am deeply saddened to read in the newspaper that Veronica has passed. I will be in touch with another classmate, Virginia in Regina. I pray that she is at peace and with those who predeceased her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family as you mourn the passing of your mom. with Blessings to all, Marge Lamont - Posted by: Marjorie Lamont (nee Skibinski) (School friend (Faraday and Isaac Newton)) on: Nov 16, 2014
