BEVERLEY MARGARET LAURETTA KIENDL (nee SMITH) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Beverley Margaret Lauretta Kiendl (nee Smith) on November 17,2014 in Winnipeg. Beverley will be lovingly remembered by her family: loving husband Roger, son William (Kirsten Provence) Kiendl of Redmond, WA and their son Jackson, and son Anthony (Joanne Bristol) of Regina, her brother Clinton Smith of Salmon Arm, BC and extended family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her mother and father Margaret and William Smith and daughter Lynn Margaret Kiendl. Beverley was born in Eriksdale, MB on July 27, 1937. She attended nurses training at Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in the class of February '59(A). Beverley first worked at the Children's Hospital after graduating, and then worked for a year at Surrey Memorial Hospital near Vancouver, later returning to Children's Hospital. She continued lifelong friendships with her classmates and was dedicated her entire life to caregiving and family. In 1962 a sense of adventure took her to New York City where she did a course in premature infant nursing at Mount Sinai hospital in Manhattan. There she met Roger and they married in Winnipeg in 1963 while living in the Bronx, then moving to Floral Park, New York. They stayed there for several years, returning to Winnipeg in 1971 where they raised their family and this year celebrated 51 years of marriage. Beverley was an avid reader, amateur genealogist and loved history. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and travel, and her musical tastes included Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Beverley demonstrated remarkable compassion and determination and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Rest in Peace. If desired a donation in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9. A private burial will take place at the Eriksdale Cemetery. She was a lovely lady and we shared a love of books, especially history and biography. She kept me well supplied with data re our mutual family tree. Roger, Bill, Tony and Lynn are so fortunate to have had her as wife and mother. - Posted by: Georgene (Robinson) Bauer (First cousin of Beverly's mother, Margaret Smith) on: Apr 21, 2015

  • Beverley, I'm so sad to know that I will not see your pleasant smile or hear of your latest discovery of an ancestor, when we return this spring. I always enjoyed our visits and will cherish the one this past October. We had so much fun with your mom as we travelled to Dauphin and other places to meet family members and all the cemeteries along the routes, in our search for genelogy information. Your visit from New York with your beautiful sons and husband Roger called for many dinner gatherings and family stories. Your mother and father were some of the best stories tellers I knew and the facts they remembered were somehow stored in your wonderful memory. Bev. I will never forget you! Sympathies to all the family, - Posted by: Donna Smith (family) on: Nov 27, 2014
