PAUL GEORGES FRANCIS CARRIER (CARRIERE) It is with deep felt sadness that we announce the passing of Paul G. F. Carrier at the St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the age of 78. Born on May 16, 1936 in St. Vital to Télesphore and Agnes Carriere (LeClerc), he was the fifth of eight children. Dad leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn (Delorme), his children Charles (Darlene), Andre (Laurie), Christiane (Eddie), his grandchildren Francine (Hawk), Wayne (Leanne), René, Richard, Raymond, Sylvain, Chanel, Céleste (Mustafa), and great-grandchild Somaya. He is also survived by his brothers Raoul (Georgina), Denis, René (Marthe), and his sisters Agnes Rémillard and Dolores (Maurice) Blanchard. Also mourning are Paul's in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his eight year old son René in 1968, his father Télesphore in 1965, his mother Agnes in 1980, his brother Edouard in 1995, his sister Doris in 1959, his brother-in-law Louis Rémillard, and sisters-in-law Sheila Carrière and Betty Carrière. As a young man, Dad joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a member of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). After several years of duty, Dad left the military and worked for the Winnipeg School Division #1 until his retirement. Dad enjoyed travelling across Canada to visit his brothers in Vancouver and Quebec. He also loved to travel to warmer climates especially Florida, Mexico, Venezuela and Cuba. Dad was an avid reader; his favourite was the Time' magazine. He loved to debate politics and world events. Dad loved camping/fishing with his sons and nephews. He spent many memorable hours playing board games and card games with his family. He was an active member of his church, a full member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Winnipeg Legion #1. Dad volunteered at the Festival du Voyageur and Folklorama. In 1993, Dad suffered a major cardiac episode. He was then diagnosed with diabetes and kidney disease. After many years of courageous battle with these diseases, Dad passed away in the early hours of November 21, 2014. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 with viewing beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St., Winnipeg. Celebration of Dad's life and funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Martyrs Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault St., Winnipeg. • My sincere condolences to ma chère Tante Evelyn, Charles, Andre and Christiane and their families. Oncle Paul was so loved and enjoyed many vacation getaways with my mom and dad. I would love to see the vacation pictures when my parents would return to see Oncle Paul and the gang have a carefree and whimsical time. It allowed me to see how much fun friends and family can have....and that it is 100% to be silly. Carpe diem - Seize the day! I will miss you lots and will always hold you dear in my heart. - Posted by: Renée Monin (niece) on: Nov 26, 2014
