ELSIE TOPNIK On November 29, 2014, at the Bethesda Hospital, Elsie Topnik, at the age of 85 years, passed away with her loving family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Shirley (Russ) Stogryn of Langley, BC, Howard (Shirley Ganske) of Winnipeg, MB and Bev (Dean) Warkentin of Kleefeld, MB. She will be dearly missed by her five grandchildren: Stephen (Ruveen) Stogryn, Karyn Stogryn, Cameron Topnik, April (Robert) Pereira, Chris Warkentin; and her first great-granddaughter Mya Pereira. Elsie is also survived by three sisters: Lena Schellenberg, Frieda (George) Falk, Anne Semeniuk; and one brother John (Monica) Rempel. She will also be missed by many extended family members and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Jake Topnik and her granddaughter Deanne Topnik, both in 2003. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Karen Toews, the staff of Steinbach Cancer Care and the staff on Main Floor at Bethesda Hospital for all the support and care over the past years. Elsie's funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach, with Pastor Terry Gudmundson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Friedensfeld, MB. Donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. I was a young housewife when we met & became friends through her work at Sew & Save store. She was always available with helpful suggestions & so through the years I counted her a real friend. Elsie was our model conscientious Kleefeld Tops weight recorder for many years. She was a Kops for more than twenty-five years. Elsie was always serving, always working. We could depend on her. I will really miss Aunt Elsie's positive attitude. She was such a great support to me and my sisters when our mother died. I will really miss her when we all get together.
