FRED KRAWETZ June 1926 - November 2014 Peacefully, on the evening of November 28, 2014, Fred Krawetz of Portage la Prairie passed away at the Lions Prairie Manor. Fred was born in Glenella, Manitoba and was predeceased by his parents Ben and Anna, and sisters Sophie, Mary, and Pearl. Fred will be sadly missed and loved by his wife Nellie, children Cheryl (Jack), Carrie (Roy), Eric (Gayle), and grandchildren Ben (Sarah), Nick, Kelsea and Justin. Fred started working as a farmer and upon moving to Portage la Prairie learnt the carpenter trade. He ended his working career at Southport Air Force Base. Fred was an avid crib player, enjoyed visits to the casino, bowling, gardening, and was also a curling and baseball fan. We were so happy to celebrate Dad and Mom's 65th Wedding Anniversary at the Manor just a few weeks ago. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of Parkside at the Lions Prairie Manor and staff of Extended Care at Portage General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Portage District General Hospital or Lions Prairie Manor. Please join the family in a celebration of Fred's life on Saturday, December 6 at Dalton Grove Estates, 851 Saskatchewan Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. We are sure Fred will still be tuning in to CFRY's Saturday night Polka Party!
