Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN CRAWFORD (nee SOPIWNYK) August 3, 1954 - December 5, 2014 After an incredibly brave and courageous battle with cancer, Doreen Crawford passed away in her sleep, with loved ones by her side, at the age of 60. Doreen is survived by: her partner, Mark Kuriata, her mother Mary Sopiwnyk, brother Johnny Sopiwnyk, sister Mary Anne (Jerald) Flett, nephew Jared Flett, niece Teresa (Chris) Sanders and the light of her eye, great-nephew Emerson Sanders, as well as many extended family and friends. Doreen was predeceased by: her grandparents, father Peter Sopiwnyk, and her beloved dog, Tiger. Doreen was born on August 3, 1954, in Caliento, MB. She was a generous, kind and determined woman who loved her friends and family deeply. When she turned 18, she moved to Winnipeg, where she resided until her passing. Doreen was employed by Tru Serv Canada for 42 years where she had various positions. She was the biggest Blue Bombers fan and was a season ticket holder for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling and went to at least 20 Grey Cup games in various cities. Doreen loved Las Vegas and looked forward to her yearly trips there with Mark. Although her life was not long enough for those she leaves behind, Doreen truly lived her life to the fullest. Even through the difficult times she encountered over the last three years, she maintained her quick wit and humour. She will be incredibly missed by her family and friends, but our hearts are filled with memories of her that we will carry with us always. The Funeral Service for Doreen Crawford will be on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy. 52 W., Steinbach, Manitoba. Burial will follow at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery, Caliento, MB. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff on the 5th floor at the Women's Hospital Health Sciences Centre as well as the Palliative Care team. If friends and family so desire, donations in memory of Doreen may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society Transportation Program, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB.
