LINA GAGNON Peacefully with her family at her side Lina passed away at home, as were her wishes, on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She will be greatly missed by her children Jeannine (Harry), Rachelle (Stephen), Real (Paulette), Jean (Lucile), Aline (Robert), Dominique, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and their partners. She is survived by her sister Louise and brother Louis. Lina was born and raised on the farm in LaBroquerie, MB one of 11 children. She moved to Winnipeg to start her married life. Her fondest memories were made working at St. Mary's Academy with the Grey Nuns where she made lifetime friendships. Lina was very loving, spiritual and compassionate. Her family was the most important part of her life and she was the happiest when surrounded by them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought the biggest smile to her face and a sparkle to her eyes. We will remember forever her hugs and words as any of us left the house "I love you and I am proud of you". Thank you for being our Mom. We will miss you so much. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Church at 820 Cottonwood Road. Thank you to home care staff for their care and support and a special thank you to Linda for her spiritual guidance. In lieu of flowers family and friends may wish to make donations to a charity of your choice. As Mrs. Gagnon's family doctor for many years in the past, I was saddened to hear of her death. She was a very resilient lady with much strength and fortitude. On behalf of my family, I like to offer my sincerest condolences for your loss. Our mother Georgette Rocan Balcaen passed away this September followed by our father two months later. They were also from La Broquerie. I am sure that they knew it other and that we are related. If your mother was blessed with the wonderful Rocan quality of kindness and gentleness, she must have been truly special. She will be in every smile her memory brings. Our prayers accompany you. I never met this wonderful lady but I felt as if I knew her. Megan often had funny stories to tell us when she came into work. My favorite one was when she told her that she didn't like Megan's hair color or her pants. If it wasn't the funny stories we were hearing it was hearing about how much her grandmother meant to her or how much she loved her and was loved back.
