HENRI DAUDET It is with much sadness that we announce that our dear father Henri passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 22, 2014 at 88 years of age. He is survived by his four sons, Norman (Joy), Marcel, Paul (Lisa), Henri (Karen), daughter-in-law, Gisele, grandchildren, Daniel, Dée-Anne (Norm), Martin (Dana) and Chantal (Nathan), Nathalie, Annie Rose, and great grandchildren, Zachary and Calem. He was predeceased by his cherished wife of 59 years, Yvette, his beloved eldest son, Gilbert, and his brother Noel. Dad was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba on February 19, 1926. He loved life, his family, friends and challenging work. He was an avid sports fan, in his youth having excelled at baseball, hockey and curling. In 1961 Dad moved his young family to Winnipeg. He was a loving father and industrious provider. While holding down a full time job, with five sons to feed, he attended night school for five years, studying business and real estate appraisal. He subsequently spent 20 years working as a manager for the Manitoba Housing Renewal Corporation. After retiring from MHRC in 1985 Dad embarked upon a third career, with Yvette always assisting by his side, distinguishing himself working for CESO (Canadian Executive Service Organization) for some 20 years, providing volunteer services on behalf of aboriginal communities throughout Manitoba. His assignments for CESO took him abroad as far as Moscow, Russia and Lesotho, Africa. In 2002, Dad was awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of his outstanding volunteer services for CESO. After retiring from MHRC he established a real estate consulting service, HL Daudet & Associates. He pursued this endeavour with great passion and loved to share his expertise with his sons. Until the end Dad remained deeply concerned for the well-being of his children. We will deeply miss him and hold his memory dear. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Konrad and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the home care staff, for their excellent and compassionate care. We also wish to thank the staff at Villa Aulneau, and especially Dad's very caring neighbours who so enriched his life and ours in his final years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel 576 Balsam Crescent Oakbank, Manitoba, Marcel Daudet officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of one's choice. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Whenever my branch at MHRC needed a piece of land for a project Henri was our go-to guy. NO was never his answer, it was always... we will see how this can be achieved. With Henri, there was a certain joy to sometimes difficult gov't work. A meal here and there with his wife at home in St. Norbert, visits to his basswood tree farm, and being taught how to play 21 TO WIN added to the experience of knowing him. - Posted by: Gathorne (Gae) Burns (Working with Henri at MHRC) on: Jan 16, 2015

Our hearts go out to you all on this sad occasion. The loss of a parent is a difficult one to bear, especially when they have been such a good example as your father obviously was. Although we did not know him, we are well acquainted with Norman, Joy and their family and Marcel, of whom we have the utmost respect. May the God of all comfort, Jehovah be with you all as you bear your loss as we look forward to the blessings in store. Be assured of our brotherly love for you, Don and Peggy Anders - Posted by: Don and Peggy Anders (friends ) on: Dec 29, 2014

My deepest and sincerest condolences to the Daudet family. I only knew Henri a short while. It was my pleasure to have been able to help and care for him. He was a very nice, smart, and a funny man. He always told me that I shouldn't fuss over him as much as I did and that I treated him like a King. I enjoyed looking after Henri and you will be missed truly. Rest in peace - Posted by: Tracy (friend (homecare)) on: Dec 27, 2014

To begin I want to wish the Daudet family my deepest condolences. Our prayers and thought are with you all. This man was a person of interest as he was the general manager of the Notre Dame Co-op and also my father Firmin good friend and board member of the Co-op, also my baseball coach in Notre Dame for many years. A great gentle giant of a man when you are six year old. - Posted by: Normand Berard (someone I knew when he was general manager i and coach in Notre Dame de Lourdes) on: Dec 26, 2014
