JACQUELINE VICTORIA (SCUDDER) LAMPRELL Peacefully on December 21, 2014, Mom passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on Inglewood Street in St. James () on May 24, 1925, and lived all her life in the area. She attended Linwood School (St. James Collegiate). On September 8, 1956, Jackie was married in St. James Anglican Church to Peter Frederick Lamprell and they raised two daughters. Jackie graduated from Dominion Business College in 1943 and had a successful career as a secretary in a number of law offices, retiring in June, 1990, after ten years with Chapman, Goddard and Kagan. Mom enjoyed a life-long love of music, participating in choirs, playing the piano and organ, and accompanying sing-songs for the patients at Deer Lodge Centre for over 40 years until 2004 when her memory began to decline. The family would like to thank the staff of The Westhaven who enhanced her quality of life from 2004 - 2008 and the wonderful nursing and recreation staff of Heritage Lodge who cared for her with grace and dignity for the last five years. Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter in 2004. She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy (Michael Stephens) and Beverly (Guy Catellier); four grandchildren, Ryan (Jasmine) and Laura Stephens, and Olivia and Jayden Catellier; and two great-granddaughters, Caprica and Arwen Stephens. She also leaves one brother Stan; a sister-in-law Daphne James; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral service, but we will remember Mom as we gather together over the holiday season. No flowers please. Donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I remember Jackie Lamprell as a very kind, intelligent and caring person. She was the secretary to my late father, George Thomas Chapman for some years and upon his passing, she became my assistant and I enjoyed a very successful and harmonious working relationship with her. The work she did for our firm was always competent and efficient and we were sorry to see her leave when she finally retired. I knew Jackie personally from an early age through the ST. James Anglican Church, where she and her husband Peter were active members and in recent times enjoyed listening to her play the piano at the Deer Lodge Centre. She was a beautiful person. - Posted by: George Chapman (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2015

  • My condolences to the family. I met Jackie when I volunteered at Deer Lodge Centre. She played piano on 4Lodge when a friend and I assisted with tea time. Once the residents were served I went to the piano and sang familiar tunes which they seemed to enjoy. I reluctantly had to give it up when I encountered health problems. It was sad to see Jackie succumb to Alzheimer's disease. - Posted by: Nan Christie (friend) on: Jan 07, 2015
