RANDY FRANK WAYNE LOWEN Peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2014 with family by his side, Randy Lowen passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital. In passing he joins his parents Dave and Hilda as well as his brothers Gerald, Bruce, and Terry. Randy is survived by his brothers Ken and Erle, sister Gloria, daughter Nancy (Bob), son David (Rebecca), their mother Jo-Ann, grandchildren Breyden, Carter, and Shane, and his poodle Max, who was a constant companion. Randy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and especially going for scooter rides with his grandchildren at the farm. Randy was very resourceful and certainly liked his duct tape! By trade, Randy was a journeyman carpenter and sheet metal worker who took pride in the work he did on many landmark buildings in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the home care staff for their excellent care over the years and everyone at Amber Meadow Retirement Residence, especially the Trudel family for all of their support. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my condolences to the family at this difficult time. I was shocked to hear of his sudden passing and since hearing the news reflected back to those days when we used to spend time together. I recalled regular visits traveling from Winnipeg to Oak Point and then more frequent visits when we lived in Elmwood and the Lowen Family moved to Bowman Avenue. I can't recall anything specifically that we did. We just did what came naturally. It was our teen years and we shared the good and bad times and discovered that we were facing the same difficulties and challenges which itself was comforting to know that we weren't alone. We shared, learned and grew from the experiences and it all seemed to happen so quickly. We were resilient and within the blink of an eye and an idea or thought we were off on some sort of adventure just having fun doing whatever came to mind. I just recall the fond memories of those times which will live within me always so in a sense Randy will always be with us because of those memories. RIP Randy. - Posted by: Peter Allan (Giesbrecht) (Cousin) on: Dec 30, 2014

  • Randy and his buddies would set up a monopoly game in the basement at 350 Bowman Avenue that would go on for days it seemed. To me, the little sister, it seemed so grown up. They had a lot of fun. I also remember playing hopscotch in Oak Point with my older brothers. This was after Mom and Dad moved to town from the farm. The brothers would draw the squares so big that I could never finish! I also remember Randy, Bruce, Gerald and Ken building these huge kites at the place we first lived in in Winnipeg in St. Vital. When I visited with Randy in Winnipeg this past October we joked about those kites made out of 2x4s and how there was no way they would ever get off the ground. They never did fly, but the boys whiled away many hours building them. RIP my brother - your struggles are over. - Posted by: Gloria Lowen (Sister) on: Dec 29, 2014

  • Heartfelt tears fall today for the family. Growing up was made more interesting having Randy as one of the "bigger/older" cousins. Times spent delivering flyers (always a competition.) Chasing around on the city streets.Downtown we'd go as a gang and see 3 movies for 90 cents. I've held those memories dear and close over the years. I was blessed while growing up to have had your friendship. Rest in Peace Cousin. - Posted by: Irene Bennett (nee Loewen) (Cousin) on: Dec 27, 2014
