What can I say, Rene and I met in high school at RB Russel. He was in welding class. I was in auto class. We hung out at school and at the bars playing pool. (nice shot, now sink the eight ball) his words would be heard by all. We would take up down hill skiing later on in grade ten thru twelve. Hanging out at the lake and playing pool was a weekend thing. My friend took me out go carting, I was hooked. Tried it out for a lap or two but it wasn't for me. Rather be out on the track were the action was. (go buddy go) Well my friend, the race track is now in your favor, go kick some ass and I will be there with you. (just from down here) I will not forget you, never stop thinking of the friend I once had. Love you Rene, God bless you and burn some rubber up there for me. - Posted by: anthony baerr (his one best friend) on: Jan 07, 2015

The was so much in our friendship. He was always there whenever I needed him. I remember we use to go to the local pool in Transcona when we were younger every weekend. Yeah we had fun. Later in life he saw my kids grow up. lol Rene sure knew how to make you laugh even when life seems bad. Gosh, for 37 years I could always count on you. Even at all hours of the day or night phoning him hahaha. We had known each other since grade 7, been friends since. This Christmas was the hardest day ever. Knowing he'll never pick up the phone again. Oh Rene, I miss you so much!! Now, and for the rest of my life. Life without you is a sadder world now that you're gone. I love you Rene (crying) always and forever. I will NEVER forget you. - Posted by: Patricia Turner (Friends ) on: Jan 06, 2015

To Rene's family and many friends I extend my sincere condolences and wish you peace at this difficult time. Unfortunately my business travels have taken me out of town and I will be unable to attend Rene's memorial service tomorrow. As a long standing member of the MKA, our family was fortunate to know Rene not only as a fellow racer but as a friend. He was always willing to lend you a helping hand or provide some advice, based on his 1000's of laps at the track. Rene was a true sportsman. He held an aggressive racing line but had respect for his fellow racers and officials, especially when the officials agreed with his point of view. His spirited enthusiasm and friendship will be missed by all. Brian, Marcia and Kurtis Hodge - Posted by: Brian Hodge (Friend) on: Jan 04, 2015

Being 14 at the time I greatfully got to run the senior Briggs class with all the big guys. I remember being right infront of Rene having the race of my life (until I got a flat tire). He of course passed me and we laughed about it as we crossed the finish line! - Posted by: Victoria Stutsky (Karting family) on: Jan 04, 2015
