At 17 he moved with his family to West Lake. As a young man, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Quebec then Dauphin. On October 23, 1943, he married Hazel Violet Reykdal. They had 54 happy years together. After the war they moved to Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Brandon and then Winnipeg. • One thing I will always remember about Roy is that he'd love to make things grow we would go down to the cottage in Lake of the Woods and every day we would take the wheel barrel under the Hydro wires and dig up the Little white and red pines that would start growing and then we take them to my property in Lake of the Woods and plant them. I think we played at least 300 and many of them are still growing to this day nice big healthy trees thank you Roy. And Roy I still have that duck decoy which you put on my beach and tricked me into thinking it was real. I was sneaking around with my camera taking pictures I will always remember you got me good that time love Robin - Posted by: Robin Johnson (Son-in-law) on: Jan 08, 2015
