Date of Passing: Dec 30, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN JOHANN RAFNSON On Tuesday, December 30, 2014 Norman Johann Rafnson passed away peacefully with family by his side. He was 71 years old. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Kay Rafnson, brother-in-law Dick Jones and nephew Micheal Jones. Norman is survived by his beloved children Jodi McCoy (Troy), Jeffrey Smith (Michel), and Christian Rafnson; grandchildren Jenny, Sean, Colin, Lindsay, Rachel, Markus and Catelyn; brother Scott (Thelma), sisters Sharon Jones, Dallas Ganske (Ed) and Nancy as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Norm's greatest gift were his children and grandchildren. He took great delight in their visits and was so happy to meet his youngest grandchild this past September. Norm had a great sense of humour and a wry wit. He was quite the movie buff and could tell you the name of an actor in most any movie. He was proud of his service in the US Marine Corps where he served one tour of duty in Vietnam. Norm was recognized for his service with two medals: a Purple Heart and the Navy Cross for valour. In 2008 Norm suffered a major stroke and spent his remaining years at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre). He received love, compassion and great care from the staff on 2ABC. Thank you so much. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Flowers gratefully declined.
