MADELEINE MORASSUTTI (nee VIDRY) Madeleine Morassutti passed away peacefully at the Actionmarguerite-Foyer Valade on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents Léonne (nee Bessery) and Camille Vidry, her brother Marc Vidry, her first husband Giacinto Morassutti and her second husband Stewart Welch. Madeleine was born in Le Fouilloux, France. She and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1957, lived in St. Boniface and raised their three sons. Madeleine worked at St. Boniface Hospital and later taught Conversation French at St. Boniface College and privately at her home. Madeleine was a wonderful cook and liked to work in the numerous flower gardens that surrounded her home. She had a particular love for roses. Madeleine enjoyed many summers at her cottage in Falcon Lake and winters in Tarpon Springs, Florida where she met her second husband Stewart Welch. Throughout her life, Madeleine remained active with her church, her family and friends. She leaves the memories of her life to her sons Christian (Linda), Joël (Maureen) and Jean-Marc (Shelley), her eight grandchildren and her ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade, first floor, for the kindness and wonderful care given to their mother during the past 12 years. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7 at the Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault Avenue in St. Boniface. A private interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Madeleine's honor. • Several decades ago I had the great fortune of having Madame Morissette as my teacher for conversational French at St. Boniface College. She was extremely patient with very linguistically challenged students like me. Since then every time that I am in the south of France I have no problem understanding or being understood. - Posted by: Fr. C. Fred Olds (former student) on: Jan 10, 2015

• I would call her Madame Morassuitti when she came into my store 14 years ago. Fashionably dressed, kind and classy all the way. She liked to speak about her life while shopping and often challenged me to speaking her mother tongue. On behalf of the Gydè family I wish to express our condolences.
