Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEJGIL NIELSEN KONGE On the morning of Tuesday, January 6, 2015, Ejgil Nielsen Konge passed away at the age of 63, after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. Ejgil will be missed by his loving wife Regina, of 37 years of marriage, sisters Inger and Elin, brothers Henning and Leo, beloved children: Rita (Rémi), Erik (Sarah), Tomas, and Trinette (Teddy); grandchildren: Kirsten, Cosette, Gaby, Erika, Zach, Lexi, and Bryce; mother-in-law Margarete, lovely in-laws, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Ejgil was predeceased by his son Anders and parents Niels and Margrethe. Ejgil was born in Herskind, Denmark on February 2, 1951. Ejgil was an avid builder, farmer, athlete, and card player. As a teenager and young adult he worked on farms in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Ejgil served in the Danish Army where he travelled the country by foot, and won awards for his athleticism in long jump and hand grenade throwing. He decided to immigrate to Canada, where he worked in farming and construction. In 1976, Ejgil met Regina Dolberg and fell in love. They soon got married, started a family and a hobby farm. Ejgil ran a successful drywalling business for 18 years. In 1995 Ejgil and Regina moved from BC to Manitoba to take over the Dolberg family dairy farm. Ejgil had a life-long passion for soccer and card games. He enjoyed travelling afar to visit his family and friends, and played card games like Skipbo and crib along the way. Ejgil, was a son, brother, father, uncle, bedstefar and friend. He will be forever missed for his unique sense of humour and amazing amount of energy. The service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy. 52 W., Steinbach, Manitoba, with reception to follow. Interment will take place at the St. John's Cemetery in Friedensfeld, Manitoba. Donations in memory of Ejgil may be made to South Eastman Health Palliative Care Program, P.O. Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, palliative care, home care, and Regina for taking such good care of Ejgil. Kære Ejgil og familie, Som ven til Ejgil vil jeg gerne sige mange tak for et godt venskab. Tak for et godt ophold hos jer, da vi besøgte jer i Canada. Vi har altid nydt at Ejgil var god til at komme uanmeldt på besøg hos os i Danmark. Det var skønt at mindes de gamle tider og at få nyt om livet i Canada.
