ANNA FRANZ (nee DYCK) 1938 - 2015 Anna Franz, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to meet her Saviour on January 9, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital. She was 76 years old. Anna was born in Russia and spent her early years travelling the world from Germany, to Paraguay, to Brazil, and eventually settling in Canada in 1957. She was baptized at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church on June 1, 1958. Later she got to know Henry Franz at youth group and they were married in Winnipeg on June 27, 1970. She enjoyed the good things in life, including picking blueberries at the lake, drinking coffee with friends, singing in the choir, and playing games around the table. Her working career spanned many occupations, from nanny to pizza-sauce cook and candy-maker to custodian, but her most loved occupation was discovered in her later years in her role as 'Oma'. Anna dealt with many health issues through her life, including a kidney transplant in 1994, but she always lived as an inspiration to her family and friends with her positive attitude and unfailing faith in God. Anna is survived by her children Werner (Rachel) Franz and Elisabeth (Philip) Franz-Warkentin; grandchildren Danica, Katerina, Astrid and Jakob; brother Henry (Elfriede) Dyck, sister Helen (John) Zacharias, sisters-in-law Anna (Nick) Tessmann and Elisabeth Penner; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Selah, husband Henry, parents Anna and Henry Dyck, and brother-in-law Gerhard Penner. Many thanks to the Transplant Clinic at Health Sciences Centre for the many years of care. We also wish to thank the staff at St. Boniface ICMS for their loving care of our mother. A celebration of Anna's life will be held on Friday, January 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St., Winnipeg, MB, with viewing at the church prior to the service. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, Winnipeg, MB. If friends so desire, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

We have known your mother for many years - starting in South America. She was always friendly, greeting you with a smile. We knew all the physical difficulties she had, and yet complaints were not heard. She would tell you what was wrong, but not moan about it. She was a wonderful person, and she will always be remembered with love. - Posted by: Peter & Betty Braun (friend) on: Jan 15, 2015
