AUDREY ANN DYSART (nee HART) On Tuesday, January 14, 2015, Mom passed onto the Spirit World with her family by her side. Audrey leaves to mourn her partner, Garnet Workman, her daughter, Leigh Ann, and her cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, and Gilbert. She is survived by her sister Frances (George), Sharon (Doug), brothers Ron (Barb), Alfred (Corrine), closest friend Debbie, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Larry, her parents Alfred and Mordina, her brothers Irvin and Ralph, her sister-in-law Jocelyn and her nephews Irvin Jr. and Jeremy. Audrey was born in Norway House, on September 23, 1953. She attended Frontier Collegiate Institute in Cranberry Portage for her high school. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Certificate of Education at the University of Manitoba. Audrey was employed as a classroom teacher, then resource teacher with Frontier School Division at Jack River and Rossville Schools in Norway House. After moving to Winnipeg in 1989, she continued on in the resource role at William Whyte School. Audrey was brought in to assist in establishing Niji Mahkwa, Winnipeg's first Aboriginal elementary school. She played a major role in developing the curriculum, and the language and cultural components. It was here that Audrey pursued a path into administration and took on the role of vice-principal. She spent the remainder of her career in this capacity at Gordon Bell High School. In life, The Seven Teachings guided Mom; her gentle and kind spirit impacted all who knew her. Mom was an advocate for Aboriginal students and gave of herself tirelessly. In death, those lessons will continue to be remembered and taught to future generations. A Celebration of Life will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. A private family ash interment will take place in Norway House at a later date. Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • I met Garnet first as a client over 20 years ago during the purchase of insurance. Garnet is a very nice guy, a consummate professional and when we got around to discussing family he was clearly proud and happy to discuss Audrey's patience and their life at home. Carla and I are both shocked and saddened to hear of your loss, Garnet and family. I wish you the strength to carry on and we look forward to speaking again soon. Our thoughts are with you. • I would like to thank all for their kind words and generous support during this difficult time. Audrey was unquestionably one of the most gentlest spirts I've come to know. We were together for 25 years and my only wish was that it be doubled. She was good for me as I was for her. She will always be loved. Thank you again. • Condolences to you Leigh Ann, Garnet and the Hart family. Audrey was one of my bridesmaids back in 1969 and always a friend and sister. I will always remember her wonderful sense of humour, her support and love. She was my connection to the Hart family and always kept in touch. I know she is now with her loved ones who have left us and will rest in peace knowing she lived her life on her terms. Peace and love always. • It was a shock to hear of Audrey's passing. Our paths have gone separate ways over the years, since we worked for Frontier School Division, but I still remember visiting with her and Larry at Norway House and hearing the hilarious stories of her Grandma's wars at the band office! She had a quiet way of telling a story that guaranteed a laugh. She and Larry were great people, an inspiration to all those whose lives they touched, and both left us too soon. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family at this time. May Our Heavenly Father grant you peace! - Posted by: Raymond Shirritt-Beaumont (colleague from Frontier School Division days) on: Jan 20, 2015

  • I met Audrey when she was attending University of Manitoba. I was the photographer chosen by Audrey for her wedding! I was Leigh Anne's babysitter for a few years and you played so well with my boys, Patrick and Joey. After the family moved to Norway House, we kept in touch for a while. I have often thought of this beautiful family that I so enjoyed their company. Leigh Anne, my heart goes out you and may you find strength, courage and a peaceful heart as you face these challenging moments. May wonderful memories ease your pain! Love you still. It would be nice to hear from you! - Posted by: Lucette Sabourin (Friend and neigh or from years past ) on: Jan 17, 2015
