PAULETTE MALLON (nee DYKEMAN) June 25, 1955 January 17, 2015 It is with great sadness, and a heavy heart to announce the passing of my best friend and loving wife, Paulette after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Paulette had many passions in life. She took great pleasure in designing and caring for her many flower beds, her favourite expression was "You build it and I will plant it". There were never enough; always another to build. Other pleasures were finding special treasures while antiquing from coast to coast. It didn't matter where we were or what province or country we were visiting, it was difficult to drive by without stopping in "Just to look". Her greatest pleasures of all were her nephews and nieces. Being there for the first step, first word, laughing and helping in all aspects of life. From early school to graduations. From singing and music to playing on stage. It didn't matter what they wanted or tried to do, she was there with open arms and a big smile. All her life was based on healthy food and plenty of exercise, from Yoga and aerobics to cross-country skiing, only to be diagnosed and finally succumbing to cancer. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by a strong and loving family. Through all stages, family members were always by her side, never leaving, till her final breath. Paulette is survived by her loving husband Barry of 26 years. Mother and father-in-law Bea and Fred Mallon, sister Jackie Dykeman (Rob), brother Rick Dykeman, in-laws: Bruce Mallon (Jan), Audrey Puddifant (David), Diana McLean (Lockie). She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Amanda (James), Lindsay, Kyle, Kory, Lisa (Chris, Malori, Braxton), Chelsey (Nick, Maverick), Lachlan and Braeland. Paulette was predeceased by her mother and father, Bernadette and James Dykeman. I am so very thankful to the nurses, doctors and all involved with comforting and assisting Paulette in this difficult journey. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 23, at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel 433 Main Street Stonewall Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba in order to help others who will be affected by this horrible disease.

  • Paulette was my favorite "big cousin"! I have many wonderful memories of her with me when I was only a toddler, including her supervising me in my sandbox on Tremblay Street. I watched her interact lovingly with her german shepherd when she was a young girl. On one of our many family visits to Winnipeg she took me to a park on a beautiful hot summer day and was enthusiastically whistled at and patiently explained to this youngster that that is what boys do when they think you are pretty! My last memory was conspiring with her for a surprise visit to BC five years ago with Barry and her father to see my mom and dad. She had a generous spirit and a gift of enjoying herself and everyone that she was with. Polly had a brilliant smile and an infectious laugh that was a joy to listen to. I truly cannot remember her ever having a negative word to say about anyone. She was one of the finest women that you could ever have the privilege of knowing. My husband, Brett, and I send our deepest condolences to Barry, Jackie and Amanda at this time. I am confident that she will be joyously celebrating Uncle Dyke's birthday with Auntie Bernice, her heavenly pets and family members, waiting for the rest of us to join her.I am thankful that she is now free of pain.
