Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORATHIA MARION HUNTER (nee RECKSIEDLER) July 9, 1926 - January 22, 2015 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dorathia. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arthur, and her parents Roy and Alvina Recksiedler. She leaves to mourn her children, Marilyn Jonasson (Norm), Gordon (Dawn), David (Margaret), Janet Giese (Daryl), grandchildren Krista, Dave, Lesley (Kevin), Janaya, Renelle, Brendan, Lauren, Kyle and two great-grandchildren Sabrina and Noah. Dorathia grew up on the family farm near Morris, MB. After moving to town with her parents she worked in several grocery stores. While working in Whitemouth she met Arthur. They were married September 19, 1952 and moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. Mom was devoted to providing a loving home for her family. Her dedication to caring for Dad during his illness was an inspiration. She was a loyal friend, helping whenever she could. She served her church throughout her life and was strengthened by her faith which was very important to her. She enjoyed cooking, baking and handicrafts such as knitting, sewing and quilting. She and Dad enjoyed curling, golf, camping and travel. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30 at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Cres. A private family interment will be held that morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sherwood Park Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation, Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6.
