• I first met Gert as a junior nurse beginning work at St. Boniface Hospital in 1974. Gert was my head nurse on the night shift. While she struck me as strict then, I came to appreciate what high standards she expected of her staff, as my career progressed. Her warmth shone through at times, particularly when she was telling stories of her family.
