Date of Passing: Jan 24, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRIETTE HELAINE MARIA CECLIA WHITE (nee POSTMA) Peacefully at her home, with family by her side, Henny (Yette) passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mom was born in Reclinghusen, Germany and moved to Amsterdam when she was four years old. Left to cherish her memory is her best friend and companion Mitch Olson and daughters Anne Johnson (Ken), Carole Vivier (Rick), Thelma Quinn, Judi Loewen (Brent), Pamela White and two sisters Rietja and Leis, in the Netherlands; sister-in-law Thelma Bona and brother-in-law Melvin White in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia along with several relatives in both the Netherlands and Nova Scotia. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren, who she adored. Henny was predeceased by her husband Carrol in 1984, parents Antonia and Julius, sister Honey and brothers Herman and Hennie. Mom lived a long and full life. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She truly loved life and could outlast anyone on the dance floor. We will cherish our memories of seeing her dressed to the nines with those sparkling blue eyes that lit up a room. Mom stood out in any crowd and once you met her you wouldn't forget her. She loved gardening, baking, travelling and listening to music (her heels were always tapping). The past five years Mom took joy in spending time with Mitch and travelling to Texas. Always by each others side, having fun and enjoying life. No words can express our gratitude to Mitch for his love and dedication to Mom. Your caring ways and support to our Mother will never be forgotten. You are truly one in a million. We were blessed to have you as our Mom. We will miss you and will always treasure our memories. Remember, it is not goodbye, but until we meet again. We love you mom. Also a big thank you to the Palliative Care Program and the dedicated doctors and nurses who cared for her. A private family service will be held. "If love could have healed you, you would have lived forever" Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Henny was a lady through and through. She could not only out dance everybody, but she could just about outlast all of us on any night regardless of what we were doing. She was a wowan who totally enjoyed people, she greeted everyone she met with her beautiful smile and love of life. Anne (Toni), Carol, Thelma, Pam and Judy, I know how much you loved your Mom, she was a wonderful role model for each of you and for all of us. We hadn't been in touch recently, but she was always on my mind and in my heart. I hope you know how sad I was to hear of her passing. She will be in heaven now, waiting for each of you. Please accept our deepest regrets. Love and hugs Brenda and Gary - Posted by: Brenda VanSnick (Niece) on: Feb 02, 2015

I have had the privilege of knowing Henny and her family for over 40 years. She was a remarkable lady with an incredible sense of style and grace. My sympathies to my dear friend Carole and her sisters Anne, Thelma, Pam, Judi and all of their families. "The death of a mother is the first sorrow wept without her" (author unknown).
