George and Eleanor were my landlords when I was 18.They were my second parents and watched over me. I loved them both and am so lucky to have had them at a time in my life when I was alone in the big city. They were the kindest people. I remember Eleanor's sweet laugh, and George calling up the stairs for me when I got a call. EEEE-laine, telephone They were very good people. Thank you George and Eleanor for being there. - Posted by: Elaine Clare (renter) on: May 21, 2015

I can still recall all the times I saw uncle George whether I was a kid at the farm, travelling thru with John to Ontario in the 80's, we stayed at his house and he took us on a tour of Winnipeg and or at my mom and dad's place in Vancouver, he always had that gorgeous Hemming SMILE. I bragged to my friends about his square dancing and how he told me that his girlfriends had to dance....So, Uncle George! keep rocking to the beat....You will be missed. - Posted by: Penny Rivard (lemon) (Neice) on: Feb 11, 2015

I think why Uncle George had such a long and happy life was the way he looked at it, always smiling, chuckling, laughing, a Hemming attribute. I have fond memories of visiting him and Aunt Eleanor on summer vacations at their home in Walnut Street, where we would "bunk" out on the living room floor in sleeping bags, somehow there was always room for family. I remember his sister Phyllis (my mom) and him would yodel together, quite a treat! May Uncle George rest in peace. - Posted by: Garry Howell (Nephew) on: Feb 03, 2015

Uncle George had such a zest for life. I will always remember when Mom (sister Effie) and I would visit. We had such a great time. I remember the wonderful crepes with orange syrup Uncle George made for us - they were yummy. And Uncle George sleeping in the rented tuxedo after Linda and Geoff's wedding. He was so proud. - Posted by: Sharlyne Niemela (Niece) on: Jan 31, 2015

What a great long life, that we have enjoyed a man who lived life to the fullest. I have so many fond memories of Uncle George and Aunt Eleanor, getting together at Round Lake in the 50's and 60's. I remember the fishing reel that he built and he ACTUALLY caught fish, I was so impressed!! Our thoughts are with you... - Posted by: Darrell Tremblay (Nephew) on: Jan 30, 2015

I have very fond memories of Uncle George & Auntie Eleanor. We always looked forward to visiting their home on Walnut at Christmas and other times of the year. They always made us feel welcome even though there were 7 of us kids and mom and dad piling into their home on Walnut St. It was always nice to visit with him when Grandma (Winnie) lived with Uncle George after Auntie passed away. He always had a smile on his face and an amusing story to tell with that distinct voice and chuckle that I will always remember. - Posted by: Debra Deprez (Otto) (Great-Niece) on: Jan 29, 2015

Growing up he was more like a dad than an uncle to me. I will dearly miss his hand written Christmas letters I have received every year since the passing of my mom (aunt Wini to most of you), in 1983. All my memories of Uncle George were of him smiling and laughing or dancing. He had such a zest for life. Always kind to everyone. As a very young child I enjoyed spending time at Great-Uncle George & Aunt Eleanor's on Walnut. Just thinking of him, you can't help but smile. - Posted by: Joanne Peitsch (Otto) (Geat-Niece) on: Jan 29, 2015
