HELEN NELSON Helen Nelson (nee Sawatzky), aged 85 years, passed away quietly January 24, 2015. Helen was born July 18, 1929 in Mexico to Jacob A. Sawatzky and Sarah (nee Hamm) Sawatzky of Gretna, MB. She was the fourth of six children and was predeceased by her parents, brothers Jack and Ben, and sister Sarah. Her sister Mary and brother Henry of Altona remain to mourn her. She is cherished and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Jacqueline, Brenda and Pam, sons-in-law Jay and Ed, grandchildren Devin, Jaime Raye and Sarah, and many nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of River East Personal Care Home for taking loving care of Helen these last few years. She made friends everywhere she went and you all became friends for her towards her life's end. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canadian Alzheimer Society. An evening to remember will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
