ALLEN LAWRENCE June 20, 1924 - January 30, 2015 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, great- grandpa, and great-great-grandpa at the age of 90. Allen will be lovingly remembered by his children: Linda (Bob) Vandenberghe, Eddie (Linda) Lawrence, and Murray (Terry) Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene in 1984; parents James and Elizabeth (Lizzie); daughter Patricia; granddaughter Lisa; brother David, sisters Essie and Mae, and son-in-law Bill Weedmark. Born in Eriksdale, he moved to Seven Sisters, and later to Beausejour, where he remained until his passing. He was employed by the Parks Branch, and spent his career in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. As a side business, he delivered water to many residents in Seven Sisters for many, many years. He will always be remembered as the "Water Commissioner of Seven Sisters". He loved the outdoors and spent endless hours in his many vegetable gardens. Allen also loved blueberry picking in the Whiteshell. For entertainment in the winter, Grandpa followed his great-grandson's hockey seasons. It was not uncommon for him to attend eight plus games each weekend. In his later years he loved to watch curling on TV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 300-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nick and the nursing staff at the Beausejour Hospital for their care and compassion during his final days, and the staff at East Gate Personal Care Home, for the care extended to our loved one. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to granddaughter Darlene for doing everything for Grandpa. According to Allen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date in River Hills Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To the Family of Mr. Allen Lawrence, So sad to hear of Mr. Lawrence's passing. I will always remember my Mom, Dad or I calling him for our water delivery. My parents and I would sit around our kitchen table with him and have coffee and a visit while he delivered our water. He was always so pleasant to chat with. It is a memory that is special to me. Please cherish and treasure your memories. With my most sincere sympathy. Margit MacCharles (nee Kunz) - Posted by: Margit MacCharles (nee Kunz) (Friend) on: Feb 02, 2015
