FROMHOLD (HOLDE) AMMETER 1924 - 2015 Peacefully at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, Holde passed away on the evening of January 31, 2015. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Silvia, brother Eric, sister Trudy (John), sister-in-law Lydia, sister-in-law Alwyn, nieces and nephews Pamela Campbell (Howard), Kathryn Harrison (Wayne), Geordie Ammeter, Bill Ammeter (Diane), Heather Lepine (Martin), Linda Park (Dan), Susan Magas (Paul), Robyn Magas and Erin Magas (Mark) as well as 17 grand-nieces and grand-nephews and three great-grand-nieces. Holde was predeceased by his brothers Gerhard, Roland and Hank, his nephew Eugene, and his parents Gottfried and Rosa. Holde was born in Karabulach, Russia on February 5, 1924. In 1929, with his parents, he moved to Canada and the family built a dairy farm in Starbuck. In 1949, he, along with his parents and brothers Roland and Eric, purchased a dairy farm in Stony Mountain, where he continued to dedicate his life to farming. In later years when his health began to fail, he was able to continue farming until age 90, thanks to his nephew Bill. Holde met Silvia in 1975, and on his birthday on February 5, 1976, they were married. Holde and Silvia had no children but Holde played a pivotal role in the raising of nephew Eugene and nieces, Pam and Kathy. All the children in Holde's extended family grew up on an unlimited supply of fresh milk. Holde was a dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Church in Winnipeg. Silvia and family thank everyone who supported them through Holde's illness and the excellent staff at Stonewall Hospital and Rosewood Lodge. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall.
