JULIE ANNE KING It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Julie Anne King. Surrounded by her loved ones, Mom passed away on February 1, 2015 at the young age of 60. She fought a hard courageous battle against cancer for which we are very proud of her strength, courage and determination. She will be sadly missed and forever lovingly remembered by her husband Curtis King; her children April King-Calisto (Paul) and Breanne Joseph (Kenny); her grandchildren Ariana and Alyvia; her mother Anne Zazulak; sisters Cindy Smith (Corrado) and Debbie Harder (Jack); sister-in-law Dayle Johnson (Ron), mother-in-law Shirley King; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her business partner and friend Elvira Tanner and of course her great group of friends and fellow crafters. Waiting in heaven with arms open to greet Mom was her dad, Mike Zazulak, grandparents Maria and William Tisnohuz, and William and Anne Zazulak and Aunt and Uncle Eleanor and Danny Smith. Mom grew up in Grandview, MB until she was a young adult when she moved to Winnipeg to pursue an education and career in Nursing. She worked in many different hospitals but spent the majority of her career up until her retirement working at the Grace Hospital. In August of 1976 she married the love of her life Curtis and they went on to have two daughters, April in 1977 and Breanne in 1980 to which we developed a strong bond and close relationship with our Mom. Some of our fondest memories will be our family vacations, camping, the day trips we took in the summer and the time we spent at the cabin. Later in life, after us kids were grown, Mom and Dad continued to travel yearly through most of North America. Mom was the pillar of strength through a few tragedies in our lives. She was a strong and determined woman always. Mom owned her own crafting business; Strokes by You, and loved to teach her craft. She was well known in the crafting community and was a beautiful artist learning her techniques from such popular artists as Donna Dewberry, Susie Schewie and Willow Wolfe. She had many students and fans of her own. Her two biggest fans were her granddaughters who she was very proud of and who loved crafting, reading and going to the park with grandma. They adored her and they will miss her so. Mom's favourite time of the year was spring into summer where she could plant her garden that she took pride in and wished that she would have one more chance to plant. Mom we will plant your garden for you. We will all love and miss you always, more then you will know and the girls love you to pieces... to the moon and back. We wish to extend our biggest thank you to her team of doctors at CancerCare Manitoba, the staff at Women's WRS5 and the staff on the 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital for her great care in her final days. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awaken in the mornings hush I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I still live on. Mom didn't want a funeral. To respect her wishes, a private memorial will be held in her honour. Donations can be made in Julie's honuor to CancerCare Manitoba or Darcy's Arc Animal Rescue. • My sincere condolences Curtis, April and Breanne. I will miss my dear friend Julie. Julie, Elvira and I spent many hours in the basement at our Wednesday night painting lessons. I looked forward to our special evening each week as not only did Julie share her gifted talent of painting, but we would all share our stories - it often became an evening of painting mixed with tears spent over our funniest stories - Julie, I will miss you forever and will always be thankful for the time God gave us to be friends. • Curtis and Family, With my sincere condolences on Julie's passing. I worked with Julie on the 2nd floor at the Grace General Hospital. Julie was a dedicated and caring nurse who treated her patients with great skill and compassion. I also recall her pride in and commitment to her family. I also had the opportunity to watch the friendship between Elvira and Julie grow and blossom over the years - they were the perfect business/craft partners. Julie's positive outlook, courage and compassion for others continued throughout her battle with cancer. May she rest in peace knowing she touched many lives, sparking creative talents and positive energy. Sincerely, Barbara - Posted by: Barbara Bilodeau-Shumeley (Nursing Colleague) on: Feb 07, 2015
