ABRAM HYDE August 8, 1930 - February 6, 2015 With great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Abe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anne; his children: Eugene (Pat), Chris (Brian), Eilene, Loren (Cheryl), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters, four sisters-in-law and their families. He was predeceased by a great-grandson and two sisters. His working life included farming for many years and then also working at the Jordan Pool Elevator for 21 years. Socially he enjoyed spending time with people whether it was fishing with family, out for picnics, camping or going for coffee with friends. He liked to go for short and long drives, travelling to the east and west coasts and many places in between. The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for their compassionate care over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donwood Personal Care Home or to Gospel for Asia. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street with viewing prior to the service. The interment will take place in the Bloomfield Rosewell Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Uncle Abe was a kind and dear man who always made time for his nieces and nephews. As a young city-boy visiting our Western relatives, Uncle Abe took me out to work the fields with him. His teaching me to drive a tractor is one of my most treasured memories. May God warmly welcome Uncle Abe, and soothe his mourning family. - Posted by: Stuart Harvey (Nephew) on: Mar 04, 2015

  • Abe and Ann were friends who visited us in Kingston during their travels and have kept contact through the years. As a neighbor and young man at Myrtle, Abe worked with my Dad on our farm and although I was 10 years younger, Abe made a lasting impression as a friend. Pat and I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Ann and the Hyde family. My mother Wilma let us know of Abe's passing. - Posted by: Pat & Wayne Halstead (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2015

  • Abe was a friend, we were school children in Myrtle, It was always a pleasure to meet Abe and reminisce about our school days. My wife Eleanor was a teacher at Myrtle and I believe she may have taught Elvira. It is with regret I am unable to attend the funeral as we are visiting on Vancouver Island. - Posted by: Don Graham (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2015
