Date of Passing: Feb 09, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRHODA MAY KUNZELMAN (nee SPARWOOD) 1922 - 2015 Suddenly, but peacefully, at home on February 9, 2015 Rhoda passed away at the age of 92. Left to cherish her memories are her children Donnie (Dianne), Keith (Diane), Sharon (Darcey), Clayton (Wendy), and Ryan, numerous grandchildren, their spouses and families. She is also survived by her stepmother Mary, sisters Irene (Don), Rosemary (Lyle), sisters-in-law Freida (Ed), Vivian, and many nieces and nephews. Rhoda was predeceased by her mother Ellen in 1949, father Jens in 1985, husband Russell in 2011, son Lyall in 2008, and sisters Leona, Violet, Edna, Doreen and Beatrice. She met the love of her life, Russell at a school dance in 1948. On September 8, 1951 they were married and then settled on Russell's grandfather's farm in Inwood, Manitoba. Rhoda devoted her life to raising her family and help running the farm. She enjoyed old time country music, dancing, family get-togethers and visiting with neighbours. She always had an interest in the lives of the grandchildren. No one ever left without having a lunch which always included cake and cookies. Mom thoroughly enjoyed the last two years where she resided at Gateway Manor amongst old and new friends. Mom was a friend to one and all and always had a smile. Special thanks to all the home care workers and staff at the Manor for their many acts of kindness. Although her life was filled with much joy and happiness by her surrounding family, she deeply missed having Russell as a part of her life. It's comforting to know they are at peace together and dancing up a storm. We will always cherish the memories we have of her and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Inwood Memorial Hall. Private family interment at Inwood Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, friends can make donations to Inwood Cemetery, Box 84, Inwood, Manitoba R0C 1P0. Rest in Peace, Mom. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall, MB 1-204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Our deepest sympathy to Auntie Rhoda's Family. We lovingly remember her as being extremely happy, always giving, and very loving. Our most sincere condolences to Sharon and Darcy, and their family. It has been said that "Death is not extinguishing the light - It is putting out the lamp, because the dawn has come". And from your words in the notice, it seems you feel the same. You will certainly miss her, and your memories of her, and your Dad, will be with you forever. - Posted by: Shirley and John Unrau (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2015

I am deeply saddened to hear that my dear friend Rhoda has left her earthly home. I have very fond memories of the Kunzelman family, as in 1956 I worked for Russell and Rhoda during the summer holidays. At 14 years of age my resume wasn't very long, however it was noted that I could milk cows. Rhoda and I always milked the cows in the evening, as Russell came in from the hay field at dusk. Donnie (4) would entertain himself in the barn and Keith (10 mths) sat in his stroller watching us. Only Rhoda could make milking cows a fun job! Go figure!! Although there was a 20 year age difference, Rhoda and I always had many good laughs. Rhoda was special to me and I loved her raisin pie. RIP my Friend. God Bless All of You (especially Ryan) and I know your cherished memories will sustain you. Love, Vicky Baril (Brocker) Spruce Grove, Alberta - Posted by: Vicky Baril (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2015
