MARCIEN (MAC) DUHAMEL March 5, 1917 - February 8, 2015 Marcien (Mac) Duhamel passed away peacefully, at the age of 97, at St. Boniface Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Francois and Julie Duhamel; his daughter Thérèse Blanc; as well as his brothers and his sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Angelina, of 73 years; son-in-law Maurice Blanc; grandchildren Robert Blanc and Lise Meixner (Luke); great-grandchildren Désirée Blanc, Joey Meixner and Jeffrey Meixner; and two great-great-grandchildren Nathan and Gabriel Sanderson. Grandpa had a wonderful and long life. He and Angelina met as young children, they were friends for many years before falling in love and marrying on December 29, 1941. He worked as a welder at Supercrete until his retirement. Grandpa was an avid violinist; he participated in many events and competitions, such as The Festival du Voyageur. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, travelling, camping and spending time with his family. Marcien (grand-pa), demonstrated tremendous strength, faith and perseverance in the last years with Angelina (grand-ma) going to Centre Taché (Action Marguerite), the loss of his only child and daughter, Thérèse in 2010. With some assistance he remained independent, in his own home and was able to live life on his own terms. We will miss you. Give Thérèse (mom) a hug and kiss from us. Prayers will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Funeral service will be held at St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 Cathedrale Avenue on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing half an hour prior to service. Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Remembering precious time spent with oncle Marcien et tante Angelina. Loved you and missing you. - Posted by: Jeannine and Len (neice) on: Feb 26, 2015

  • He was a kind, loving and spirited heart gentle person who loves his wife very dearly. A brave gentle soul who loves being at home doing what he likes most that is to look after himself. He found love in doing things for himself like cooking soup and reading the papers and looking after his bills. I'm going to miss his loveable smile and one of the brightest kind and understandable man I have ever met. - Posted by: Romeo S (home care worker) on: Feb 18, 2015

- Posted by: Maryvonne Alarie () on: Feb 12, 2015

  • My sympathy to Robert and Angelina (whom I volunteered for many years at Tache for bingo). Prayers to all the family!. - Posted by: Kathy veroneau (friend) on: Feb 11, 2015

  • Marcien was a neighbor of ours on St. Jean Baptiste. He was a great and kind man. My memory of him was how he and my dad with an uncle caught a peeping tom that would come to my sister's bedroom between our two homes. That baseball bat and broom sure did the trick to get rid of the voyeur. He always a cheerful good morning for us and was extremely kind to my Mom when when my dad passed away in January of 73. - Posted by: Jocelyne Durand (nee Moquin) (old neighbour) on: Feb 11, 2015

  • Ken and I offer our deepest condolences to Aunty Angelina and the family! Uncle Mac has been an inspiration to me for many, many years and I loved him very much not only as my Uncle but as my Godfather! I will miss him but I will always remember our visits and fun times together when we travelled to Winnipeg to visit! Uncle is with Therese and the many relatives that have gone before him and I'm sure he had a glorious reunion with all of them! Rest in Peace Uncle Mac! With our Love Shirley, Ken and Family - Posted by: Shirley sarafinchan (Niece) on: Feb 11, 2015

  • Uncle Mac and Aunty Angelina were very kind to our family. Although they only had one daughter, every Christmas while we were young they welcomed our entire family (ALL 8 of us) for Christmas dinner! I will always remember the warmth of their home, beautiful tree, fresh cooked dinner and homemade pastries. The real treat was receiving a gift.....no one left out. The fact that Aunty had to go to a nursing home a few years ago made it difficult for both of them to be separated...then the loss of Therese... Their FAITH in GOD helped them through this difficult time! RIP Uncle Mac you are now with Therese, my Dad, Rosario, and so many others!
