LORETTA (LORI) LILLIAN SYLVESTER Loretta (Lori) Lillian Sylvester, 77, of Winnipeg, peacefully passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Monday, January 26, 2015. She was born in Grainland, SK, to Hazel (Bathgate) and Wesley Sylvester. Loretta will be sadly missed by her sisters, Terry Lynne Jewell (Terry John), and Dolores Gastmeier (Donnie - deceased), nieces, Deidre, Heidi, Audrey, Tara, and nephews, Terry Wesley, and Chris. She also will be greatly missed by her dear friends Bev and Marcel Deleeuw and family, and Terri Mowchun and Wayne Ferguson. Lori was a loving aunt and friend who lived most of her life in Winnipeg, beginning her work career at Swift Canadian and then spending many years in the travel industry (BOAC), followed by a career in the Real Estate industry. Lori had a particularly soft heart for all creatures; she provided a loving home and refuge for many cats and dogs. She could often be seen in the Wolseley area taking long walks with her dogs Gilly and Jock. Loretta's health became fragile in the past 15 years and she was lovingly cared for by her family and friends. She resided at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. A memorial service will be held June 13 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario where her ashes will be interred alongside her parents. Donations in memory of Loretta can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

  • Gilly and I were born into a litter of Cairn Terriers in 2001. Serendipitously, we were reunited in 2011 when my owner remarked one day to Lori in the elevator of our Wellington Cres. apartment, "Your dog looks exactly like my dog!" Woof! Woof! Woof! Alex - Posted by: Alex (Brother of Gilly) on: Feb 14, 2015

  • So sorry to hear Loretta is gone. I have many good memories of the times we spent in Moose Jaw. - Posted by: Carolyn Lumsden ( cousin) on: Feb 14, 2015
