DOT FROM Dot From (nee Corbett) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 12, 2015. She leaves to treasure her memory her devoted husband, Milt, son Milton (Ellie Griffin), daughter Valerie (Paul Sartison), grandchildren Ben, Joe, Mary and Henry, brother, Ken (Carol), and sister-in-law Mardell. Dot lived life with great passion, throwing herself into writing, designing, stitching and cheering on kids and grandkids, and many friends; she always saw Milt as her best friend. Thanks to all who have been part of the "circle of care" these last weeks, as well as so many who have shared their lives with Dot throughout the years. Her sudden illness was not "part of the plan," but it has given us a new appreciation for the preciousness of life, and kindness in all its forms. A celebration of Dot's life will be held at a later date; arrangements pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rossbrook House, Winnipeg, the Stephen Lewis Foundation or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Dear Val, Paul and the whole family. How sad this sudden passing of your Mom. Moments like these change everything, and I know it will be take time to process this. Margaret and our whole family share your grief and pray for comfort in the weeks ahead. "Sweet Lord, you have looked into my eyes; kindly smiling, you've called out my name. On the sand I have abandoned my small boat; now with you, I will seek other seas." - Posted by: David Hunter (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2015

Dot was an absolute treasure. It is hard to believe that someone so full of ideas and spirit is gone. I am truly heart broken as she will be missed. My deepest expression of condolences to her husband Milt. I absolutely treasure all that I learned from her. She loved to share her thoughts and ideas on special projects she seemed to always be involved in and I was so inspired to challenge myself because of her. Thank you Dot and God Bless you in peace. - Posted by: Mary-Lyn Griffith (Friend from Praire Button Keepers) on: Feb 17, 2015

Although I did not know Dot as long as the other button club members, I feel priviledged to have known her. She was a true lady, very gentle and very knowledgeable. She will be missed by all of us. My condolences to Milt and family. - Posted by: Chris Ranick (friend from the Prairie Button Keepers) on: Feb 16, 2015

Milton From was a name I heard frequently, spoken with fondness growing up. Mr. From, you used to work with my dad Pino Regina (Joe) as a welder back in the day. Dad passed away last year with a short battle with cancer himself, but I KNOW that had he'd known that your lovely wife passed away, he would have wanted me to pass on our most sincere condolences for your loss. Sometimes names from our past bring us back to happier times, I couldn't not say hello. May God grant you peace and comfort in this most difficult time. Respectfully, Nancy Regina - Posted by: Nancy Regina (Distant aquaintance) on: Feb 16, 2015

Dot was always great to see at the annual From Family Christmas party. She always brought a smile to my face and later a smile to my children's faces. We will miss her. - Posted by: Steven, Kirsten, Dexter & Reese Wirth (Family) on: Feb 16, 2015

We met Milt and Dot From at our church, they always sit in the pew in front of us. It was not long after meeting them we made the connection that both Rob and myself had gone to high school with their children. We were saddened to hear of Dot's sudden illness and passing, and want Milt and Family to know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We will miss Dot's cheery smile in the pew in front of us at church, and her sharing the wonderful button creations she has designed. - Posted by: Robert and Ardith Hammerling (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2015

This very sudden illness that had befallen Dot must feel so unreal that Milt & family must be reeling from their loss. You all will miss her greatly as many will. We know that we certainly will. Dot always had a friendly smile, chatted, a passion for her interests & shared her love of her children & grandchildren. She was always so upbeat & positive. What a great virtue to have. Our sincerest condolences to all, Harman & Carol - Posted by: Harman & Carol From (cousin) on: Feb 14, 2015

I will always think of Dot as full of energy. She threw herself wholeheartedly into everything she did-- whether it was power-walking around the track at the Reh-fit, or power-packing for a family road trip :) Although I have not been the best at keeping in touch, know that I am thinking of your family now with love and prayers. - Posted by: Anna Schmidt (Friend) on: Feb 14, 2015

I am so sorry to hear about Dot's illness and now her passing. I loved Dot coming into the store always cheery and always in a hurry. The last time I talked with her she told me that she hated money and loved trading her work in lieu of cash. I wanted her to give a class on her button garden but she was so humble and afraid that she would not be a good teacher or that some of her peers would attend that we agreed not to do it. She will be missed by many. My condolences to Milt and her family. - Posted by: Sheena of Sheena's Gallery (Friend) on: Feb 14, 2015
