WILLIAM S. (BILL) ROBERTSON BSC. (C.ENG) February 11, 1930 - February 7, 2015 Peacefully at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg our Dad passed and is finally free of pain. Bill passed with loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his father, W. J. (Bobby) Robertson, his mother Mildred Deighton, his sister Patricia Tait, and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by devoted wife of 58 years, Irene and their three boys, Jim, Donald, and Terry and their spouses Tracey, Karen, and Cathy. Bill is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew, Scott, and Lindsey. Also daughter-in-law Jennifer. Andrew and Jennifer's son and Bill's great-grandson, Atreyu. Surviving Bill also are Tracey's children, Brittany (Tyler), Lindsey (Aaron), and Katey (Derek), and Tracey's grandchildren, Peyton, Ashton, and Hunter. Bill graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1952 with a degree in Engineering. He started his career with Moodey and Moore and then spent 25 years with the Province of Manitoba. His Engineering expertise had him involved in many projects in the City of Winnipeg, and the Province. Most notably the Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg Stadium, and the Floodway. ln his retirement Bill loved to golf and was a frequent visitor at the Golfdome. Bill and Irene were also involved in Meals on Wheels for many years. The two of them were fixtures at all of their boys sporting events, be it baseball, football, hockey, basketball and volleyball. They could often be found in the stands at Dakota Collegiate on Friday nights, cheering. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Victoria Hospital, and especially the staff at Meadowood Manor for their caring and compassion. You guys are the best. Cremation has taken place and a small family service will take place in the spring. Thanks for everything Dad. We'll miss you. P.S. Remember, Head down, eyes on the ball and always follow through. If I had only known it was our last walk in the rain I'd keep you out for hours in the storm I would hold your hand Like a lifeline to my heart and underneath the thunder we'd be warm If I had only known it was our last walk in the rain If I had only known I'd never hear your voice again I'd memorize each thing you ever said And on those lonely nights I could think of them once more and keep your words alive inside my head If I had only known I'd never hear your voice again You were the treasure in my heart You were the one who always stood beside me So unaware I foolishly believed that you would always be there But then there came a day when I closed my eyes and you slipped away If I had only known It was my last night by your side I'd pray a miracle would stop the dawn And when you'd smile at me I would look into your eyes And make sure you know my love for you goes on and on If I had only known, If I had only known The love I would've shown, If I had only known NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Terry and all his family. I worked alongside Bill for almost 20 years in the Engineering Division of "Water Resources". He was always very highly regarded by his peers at our office for his intellect and engineering skills. His work on this planet is now complete. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Roger Leuzinger (Friend and former co-worker) on: Feb 14, 2015
