Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR WATKO December 12, 1926 - February 15, 2015 After 88 years of a life well lived, it is with great sadness that we announce the quiet passing of Victor Watko at Selkirk Betel Home, formerly of East Selkirk, MB. Victor was predeceased by his loving wife Annie in 2013, his son Russel in 2009, and his sisters Olga, Jean and Anne. Dad will forever be missed by his children Denise (Derek) Webber, Peggy (Dennis) Craplewe and Kenneth (Donna) Waytiuk. Gigi will be remembered by his nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dad considered himself lucky to be able to make a living doing what he loved with his wife by his side, and that was farming. He was also thankful to be able to serve his fellow man in various ways and civic capacities. He was elected as Chairman of the Board for the Manitoba Vegetable Marketing Commission and remained in that position from 1972 to 1978. Dad also enjoyed municipal politics and served as Councillor in St. Clements from 1959 to 1966 and was elected as Reeve and acted in that position from 1980 to 1986. Mom and Dad loved travelling and enjoyed their winters spent in New Mexico. They also enjoyed sightseeing throughout much of Canada and the U.S. Dad loved playing cards and spending time with family and friends. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the kind, caring and compassionate staff at Betel Home for taking care of our Dad and Gigi. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Brookside Cemetery in Walkleyburg, MB.
