RONALD KEITH JOHNSON On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Carman Memorial Hospital, Keith Johnson (son of Obert and Jean Johnson of Starbuck, MB) passed away at the age of 63 years. He was predeceased by his father (Obert), his baby sister (Lorraine) and his nephew (Jesse). He is survived by his mother (Jean), siblings Joyce, Pat (Lois), Arlon (Sandra), Leland, Julie (Edmond), Jacquie (Dale) and many nieces and nephews. Even though Keith was born with Spinabifita, he spent his whole life working on the farm near Starbuck, where he also attended school (he was an excellent speller!), church, 4H and Tyros. While on the farm, Keith was his dad's helper and later became his mom's helper around the house. Throughout his life he enjoyed many family and community gatherings, trips to visit his brother in California and, more recently, a trip to Churchill to look for polar bears. We laughed at his silly jokes and loved his sense of humour. Keith loved music, especially his idol Elvis, and he liked singing along to Christmas carols. He was a kind soul who will be missed by many people. The family would like to express their thanks to those at the Carman Memorial Hospital and especially the kindness received from their Palliative Care Unit, our local Home Care and many neighbours and friends. A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Donations may be sent to the Starbuck United Church or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Doyle's Funeral Home in Carman, MB.

  • Aunt Jean and Family, so sorry to hear the sad news of Keith's passing. Always enjoyed talking to him and will always remember how much he loved listening to Elvis as did his great Aunt Hilda Johnson many years ago. He was truly a special cousin and we will all miss his smile but know it will be enjoyed by all those who he will meet again up above. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Aurlie Young (Cousin) on: Feb 24, 2015

  • Keith was a wonderful person. Definitely on the top of the list of one of the kindest people I have ever met. My deepest condolences to the Johnson family. - Posted by: Glenn Wrixon (friend) on: Feb 23, 2015

  • So glad I got to see Keith one more time, shake his hand, and talk with him, just last summer at the fellowship luncheon at the Starbuck Community Hall after the Celebration of Life held for my recently passed uncle, Max Kendall. It had been over thirty-nine years since Keith’s path and mine last crossed, yet despite the wear and tear of the years on my appearance, when I spoke he recognized me instantly and was very cordial towards me. But then, Keith always was a gentle man; a true gentleman. Heaven will be richer in having him there, but this world will truly be poorer without Keith. Dear Jean and family, I humbly offer to each and every one of you, this: A Step on the Road to Home. When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little ..... but not too long, And not with your heads bowed low, Remember the love that we all shared, Miss me ..... But let me go. This is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone, It’s all a part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home, When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me .... But let me go. - Calvin E. Kendall, S.F.O. Please take care. - Posted by: Calvin E. Kendall, S.F.O. (Acquaintance [Grew up in the Starbuck district plus was a farming neighbour.].) on: Feb 23, 2015

  • Keith was such a very special person, I am so happy I got to meet him. He will be missed by all of of us here in California. - Posted by: Sandra Johnson (Sister in law) on: Feb 21, 2015

  • I didn't know Keith well, but met him a few times at Johnson/Morissette family functions. He was also pleasant, smiling and you could tell, much loved by his family. He struck me as a gentle, hard working soul who loved the farm and being with family. He will be missed but I have no doubt, he's having a hay day up there somewhere with his Dad fixing farm equipment. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. - Posted by: Sue and Rick Ingleton (Friends ) on: Feb 21, 2015

  • I remember my cousin Keith by his sweet smile and his funny jokes which he liked to tell everyone. He was a very kind person and always showed this to everyone who came to visit him. He will be missed by all who knew him very much. And now he will be with his family in Heaven. May you rest in peace my cousin Keith. - Posted by: Marlys & Ron Pearse (cousin ) on: Feb 21, 2015
