  • I was lucky to have been able to work with Jarred for even the short time I did - less than a month, unfortunately. I remember the first time I met him - I immediately knew I was in good hands, that every time I called up to the office for help I would be greeted by this kind, lighthearted and eminently capable person. What I didn't know was how very quickly he would become my friend. I think he probably did that with everyone though - he was just that sort of person. The sort of person you met and just instantly said: "You're my friend now, even if you don't know it yet - I claim you as one!" What is the other striking thing about Jarred? The pride he took in his son. I knew Ethan's name and was shown 2 pictures of him right when I first met Jarred: before I was sure if Jarred's name was Jarred or Garret (I'm terrible with first names) but that was who he was: proud Dad, through and through. Someone he just met? He'd tell them about Ethan. That love he had for his son must transcend memory now. Such an all encompassing father's love will forever be with Ethan, and for that I'm thankful, even while we grieve over Jarred's loss. The fact that he is gone is staggering to the people who knew him; so difficult to process. I will miss my friend. - Posted by: Lauren Alaniz (Co-worker) on: Feb 27, 2015
