Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDMOND EUGENE DEGAGNE Suddenly, on Friday, February 20, 2015, Edmond DeGagné of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at St. Boniface Hospital with family at his side. Born in Crozier, Ontario on November 21, 1939, he is survived by his wife Claudette (née Dupas) of 49 years, son Marcel (Gayle), daughters Suzanne (Jeff Mott) and Colette (Robert Neil) and grand-daughter Elizabeth. He also leaves to mourn four brothers, two sisters, many in-laws, and a numerous number of relatives and friends, whose lives he touched deeply with his humour and affection. Ed grew up on the farm and worked in the bush with his own father and brothers, and was a professional truck driver for over 40 years. He had great faith and prayed daily. He spent his life taking care of his family (immediate and extended) and enjoyed spending time with them. He leaves a hole in many hearts and will be sorely missed. We would like to thank the Winnipeg Fire Department and Ambulance Service for their help and quick response, and the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their passionate care of Edmond. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 1007 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, on Wednesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m., a viewing will precede at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. Dear aunt Claudette, Suzanne, Marcel and Colette, It seems like such a long time since we’ve spoken. Our hearts are darkened by the news of uncle Edmund's passing. Please know that although we are not able to attend the funeral today, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and for the repose of uncle Edmund's soul. Please find comfort and peace in knowing that we will always have good memories of him and his jovial ways and he will find rest now with Jesus Christ in heaven for eternity. We miss you all. For many years, Ed was an esteemed volunteer driver with Winnipeg CFS. He had a soft spot for children and youth, and lived his faith by reaching out. I miss his care, his story-telling and humour, and the ever-present twinkle in his eye. Sincere condolences to Claudette, Marcel and all family members I did not have the pleasure to meet. - Posted by: Sonya Watson (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2015

Edmond is a few years older than I but we spent many happy moments in our youth. I recall the principal telling me how Edmond had challenged the school bully who was picking on someone. It was no contest and it didn't last long. Clearly, he had a sense of social just and rare sense of ethics. I will always remember him as a humble man with a sense of humour and the courage of his convictions. - Posted by: Alcide DeGagné (1st Cousin) on: Feb 24, 2015
