FLORENCE EASON LEATHERS With sad hearts we acknowledge that Florence, age 98, slipped peacefully away on February 22, 2015. She was born May 9, 1916 in Bredenbury, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Minnedosa soon after, where she received her education and spent many happy years growing up. Florence was married on July 24, 1943 in Toronto, to H. Irvine Leathers. They remained in eastern Canada during the war years. Irv predeceased her in 1960. Florence was employed by the Canadian Wheat Board for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Stephen's Broadway Church and served for 60 years as a member and Past Matron of Ft. Garry Eastern Star Chapter #17. In 2011, Florence was honoured to receive her Certificate of Recognition for faithful service. Florence will be remembered for her kindness to many, tirelessly providing car rides, baking, visiting shut-ins, and helping others. Throughout her entire life, family was most important to Florence. She was predeceased by brothers Bobby, Billy and Dave Elviss, sisters Amy Taylor and Pauline Hart and nephews David Taylor and Bruce Hart. She is lovingly survived by nephews Donald Taylor of Minnedosa, Michael and Wendy Hart, and great-nephews Luke and Damon Hart of Winnipeg. A private grave side service will be held at Miami, Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Florence you were an amazing lady and wonderful friend especially to my Mom, Nora McQueen. She was lucky to have you in her life and it was such a honour for me to be able to continue being in contact with you after we moved her East and after she passed away. I always enjoyed our chats and was looking forward to talking with you when we got home from Australia. Rest in peace dear lady, you will be missed. - Posted by: Sheila and David Gore (Friends) on: Mar 23, 2015

  • Thanks for all your love and kindness. I will miss calling you and having some good laughs about your grocery list. - Posted by: Luke (great nephew) on: Mar 05, 2015

  • I'll miss you auntie Florence, you've been here every day I've taken a breath ... so good to me growing up, I hope I was able to return the same love to you as the years passed by - growing weary from the burden of time, I hope my mom Pauline, was one of the first to greet you on that heavenly shore to share the beauty of health and youth forevermore! - Posted by: Michael Hart (nephew) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • I'll miss you Auntie Florence. One of my best memories of us together was when I picked up some groceries for you, and we spent a couple hours just visiting in your house. We talked about my school, work, golf, friends, and other things I can't remember - but everything was fun, and having some quiet time to visit was the highlight of my day. Another time I really enjoyed was the last time you, me, Luke and dad went out to Miami to water your tree, and Luke and I were showing you our skills with the frisbee. That was definitely one of my favourite little road trips together, and I enjoyed when we got ice cream and we just chatted and relaxed in the shade. I'll miss you Auntie Florence, and I'll keep working hard to make you proud. I'll see you again :) Love Damon - Posted by: Damon Hart (Great-nephew) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Florence was a dedicated member of the Star family and a kind, elegant lady. I had the pleasure of being at her home as Worthy Matron of Fort Garry #17 when we presented her with her 60 year certificate of membership in the order. She will be lovingly remembered as sadly missed. - Posted by: Andrea Stewart (Fellow Sister of the Order of the Eastern Star) on: Feb 28, 2015
