Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJARRED LEO GISLASON May 31, 1984 - February 20, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jarred Leo Gislason on February 20, 2015. Our hearts are broken. Jarred was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 31, 1984. He leaves to mourn, his only son, Ethan (and Ethan's mother Aubrey) his father Ken Gislason and brother Daryl Gislason. He also leaves to mourn his aunty Emily (John), cousins Shane, Kevin (Eileen) and Jason (Trish); aunty Gladys (Ken), cousins Jeff (Jennifer), Lorie (Trevor), Stacey; aunty Barbara (Brian), cousins Jason and Marcus; aunty Lorraine (George) and cousin Ashley; uncle Allan (Leanne) and cousin Collin; uncle Trino, cousins Jennifer, Lisa and Amy. He will also be missed by his very close friends Jeff, Amanda, Danny and numerous other friends and family. He was predeceased by his loving mother Gail Gislason (Halldorson); grandparents Leo and Mary Halldorson; grandparents Halli and Albertina Gislason, aunties Marion and Lovisa; and his best buddy Michael. Jarred grew up on the Gislason family farm with his loving mother, father and brother which is located northwest of Arborg. He was a very joyful and rambunctious child who loved to ride on the tractor with his dad and help his mom with the chores. He played hockey on the Arborg Falcons which was something he loved but it soon became evident by high school that music was his new passion. He and a group of other boys created the band Burnt Sunday, he was a talented guitar player. In 2008 his son Ethan was born and that became his new love and the only thing he wanted was to be the best father possible. He loved to play hockey with Ethan and teach him new moves. He couldn't wait to start teaching him to play the guitar and to enrich his life with the love of music. Jarred loved to exceed in everything he did, and prove his worth in every job he had. His new career at Erosion Control was one that he was very proud of and he worked very hard to make the company see him for what he was worth. He loved the idea of growing with the company and he felt close to everyone he worked with there. He was a close friend to many and was always there to lend a helping hand or give some good advice. He will be greatly missed by his son Ethan, father Ken and Brother Daryl. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arborg Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ethan's Trust Fund, c/o Arborg Noventis Credit Union Box 328 Arborg MB. R0C 0A0. MacKenzie Funeral Home Arborg 204-467-25245 machome@mts.net

Jarred was such a kind and loving person. He was comfortable around anyone and everyone. It breaks my heart that Ethan has to grow up without his dad b/c of a senseless act of carelessness. I know Aubrey will do her best to make sure that Ethan always remembers Jarred. I'll always look back fondly of our trip to Ireland together & birthday parties for Ethan, Nate & Raena. But my best memory is all of us playing Scene It DVD game & joking & laughing & having a few drinks. We all had a great time. Until we meet again, RIP Jarred⤠- Posted by: Pamela Juenke (Friend) on: Mar 03, 2015

Jarred started to work for ECB March 4, 2013 and quickly showed us his talents in purchasing and logistics. He quickly made great connections with our suppliers, customers and fellow employees, many of them considered Jarred a friend as I did. Jarred was a go getter, taking on work without complaint, doing more than what was expected and always looking out for our customers and company. I personally loved his skills with the numbers and spread sheets, he got what I was thinking and what I wanted and I did not have to give much if any explanation. Jarred had ambitions to run a manufacturing plant one day and we were planning on how we would make that happen with further education, training and coaching. He had what it took to achieve that goal and the drive to realize it. The loss of this young man's potential not realized hurts me deeply. Ethan, your dad was a great employee and hard worker, I could not have asked for better guy to work with and take on key company responsibilities. He always perked up for a challenge and loved to bug and be bugged by our US Sales Rep Joel Peterson. He knew how to dish it out as much as take it in. He talked of you often and loved watching your hockey games and taking you to see the Jets. Your pictures were all over his desk and it was very evident that his number one priority was to be the best dad in the world which I know he was. The pain of losing a father young never goes away, know that he was so proud of you and you can take that pride forward your entire life. I met Jarred through my boys Devon and Dylan Collins and have the greatest memory of seeing Jarred and my boys play at Geysir Hall. If I remember correctly the highlight of that performance was between their 2 bands, "Holiday" by Greenday. They rocked that little hall! I later had the opportunity to work with Jarred @ Erosion Control Blanket. You were a great guy Jarred, RIP my friend <3 - Posted by: noreen collins (friend/co-worker) on: Feb 25, 2015
