Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I am so shocked when I saw the obituary for your husband and father.....I met him once in Bethesda hospital......he was my uncle's roommate whom I came to visit, Dietmar was about to have lunch and since there was no one else to help him I did after he piped up about the turkey sandwich on the menu that he did not care for. He went on to tell me about his situation in some detail and he left an impression on me with his lively spirit and the sadness that he felt about his situation. So I don't really know him but I can imagine how very much you his family will miss him... he seemed like such a fun loving man. I am truly sorry for your loss. By the way he said he was going to go home that evening to watch hockey..did he? - Posted by: Rosella Reimer (met him once only) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • We are really going to miss Dietmar. He was the salt of the earth...had a great sense of humour and was a great friend. Barb and family, please accept our deepest and sincerest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Diet was always there for us and knew what to say to make us feel better, either with a belly laugh or kind words. Like we said...we are really going to miss him. Dietmar, may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Joyce and Marty Wiehler (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2015

  • So sorry to hear of Diets passing. He was the first to truly connect with me when we recently got a cabin close to his at the lake. Didn't know him for very long but the tributes already expressed are my experience as well. Loved seeing him one day on the lake when he hollered to us "permission to board ship" and then showed me the master angler walleye that Barb caught. Speaks of his character to show his excitement at another persons success. Spoke to me a lot of his love for his family. Please accept our deepest sympathies. • Bill & I are completely shocked to hear of Diet's passing. We will miss his smiling face & good humor in the camp....especially around the fire pit at Rainka's. Our deepest sympathy to Barb & family. Renee & Bill - Posted by: Renee & Bill Butchart (friends from the lake) on: Feb 26, 2015

  • Our family was so shocked to hear of Diets' passing. We've gotten to know Diets and his family well at the lake and we will miss him there this summer. He was always seen with a smile on his face and always had a comment for one of us as we walked by his cabin to head down to the dock for the day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you go through this sad and difficult time. - Posted by: Michele Goossen (Jeff, Kayla and Heather) (Friends from the Lake) on: Feb 26, 2015

  • Diet - what a guy! Always making a person feel loved! His goofyness and silliness HAD to make you smile. Even if it was at his own expense. BUT he ALSO had a HUGE heart! He loved his kids - grandkids... wife and family! Diet will be greatly missed! Barb, James and I send our condolences. We are so sorry for your loss. We all lost someone very special! • Dietmar, you always came into the office with a smile on your face and I will miss that smiling face. When we saw each other you would always say "uh oh there's trouble but what else would you expect me to say?" My thoughts and prayers are with you Barb and your family at this difficult time. Rest easy my friend. - Posted by: Debbie Lewicki (Co-worker) on: Feb 26, 2015

  • Sure am going to miss our meetings out at the lake, fixing all the world's problems over a beer or two. And you yelling at my dog for stealing your firewood. The world lost a great person, father, husband, grandpa. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you. - Posted by: mike and winnie jones (friends) on: Feb 25, 2015
