ROBERT (BOB) ALLISON FORSYTHE Twenty years after his first diagnosis and successful remission, Bob entered the race of his life with courage, steely determination and an unfaltering positive attitude for the long journey with his second cancerous brain tumour. Bob completed his final pass with the dignity of the champion he was and peacefully crossed the finish line on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre. Bob was born on March 5, 1958 in Neepawa. He is survived by his mother Margaret, brother Brian, sister Kimberley, precious niece MacKenzie, aunts, uncles and cousins, and was predeceased by Dad John (Jack) in 2006. He also leaves many friends from the NHRA racing world in Canada and USA, the Manitoba Mopar Association, and in particular Tom, his best friend of over 30 years. Our family lived in Victoria and Sidney, BC for several years then came to Winnipeg in 1974 where Bob graduated from Dakota Collegiate. He was born with a natural ability and interest in mechanics and engines and became a certified Red Seal journeyman mechanic through Red River College. Over his lifetime Bob worked at many automotive centres. He built, repaired and fine-tuned cars, and many hours were spent in his garage where friendships were shared with those who also loved hot rods and dragsters. Drag racing, and working on his 1971 Dodge Demon were Bob's passion for over 35 years. He was a great competitor and won many events at race tracks across North America. He was a well-known and seasoned drag racer who collected many trophies along the way and it was the comradery of fellow racers and his craft of mechanical know how that bonded many friendships. When Bob wasn't participating in or going somewhere in North America to watch a race, he loved to travel and had visited most provinces in Canada and many US states as well as Hawaii and Cuba. We would like to acknowledge and thank Bob's friends who stood by him during his illness as well as the exceptional nurses and doctors at Health Science Centre on GA5 and at Riverview Health Centre. Our gratitude also goes to those who assisted in Bob's rehabilitation which allowed him to live independently back in his own home. There will be a reception to celebrate Bob's life on Thursday, March 5, 2015 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Kirchhoff Gardens, 1295 Dakota Street. Parking is available next door at Faith Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully directed in Bob's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. www.cancercare.mb.ca www.seasonsfunerals.ca

I lost touch with Bob over the years and was saddened hearing about his passing. I worked with Bob at Winnipeg Transit while he was an apprentice mechanic. We snowmobiled together quite a bit back then and over the years followed his drag racing. He was a natural mechanic with a lot of talent. He will be missed by all that knew him. - Posted by: Kevin Champagne (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2015

“When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground” (proverb) My friend, Bob, wasn't old, but he was my library of automotive knowledge. I miss him every day. - Posted by: Brent (Friend) on: Mar 01, 2015
