EMILY WALOWETZ (nee CHANOWSKI) October 16, 1937- February 27, 2015 Peacefully on Friday, February 27, surrounded by family, Emily left this world to be reunited with her loved ones. Mourning her loss, her son, Larry; two sisters Marion Patrick and Carol Steinke; three brothers, Michael Chanowski (BC), Edward Chanowski (Winnipeg), Frank Chanowski (Winnipeg); brothers-in-law Fred (Balmoral), Casey Dumas (Winnipeg); numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents William and Victoria, mother-in- law Ann and father-in-law Fred Sr., husband Alex, brother Stan and sister Jean, sisters-in-law Mary, Muriel and Nellie. Emily was born in Anola, Manitoba on October 16, 1937 to William and Victoria Chanowski. Upon moving to Winnipeg she resided with her sister Carol and worked at Sterling Cloak as a material cutter. One Saturday evening sister Carol coaxed Emily to a social held in Balmoral, Manitoba. Two young men were there that night and spotted Carol and Emily on the dance floor. Alex began courting Emily and they were married in 1967. Three years later their only son Larry was born. Emily was in her element living on the farm, tending to the animals and looking after the two most important people in her life, her husband Alex and son Larry. She had a special way about her that we will all miss very much. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Cemetery, Balmoral, Manitoba. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Stonewall Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care of Emily. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m. also at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will take place at Victoria Cemetery, Balmoral, Manitoba. Free of pain and reunited with loved ones. Until we meet again. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I am so saddened to hear of my dear Aunty Emily's passing. Although we did not see her as often as I would have liked, she will be greatly missed. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She always had a smile on her face that said; although she did not live a lavish life, she was happy and content for the simple things. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Larry. We are thinking of you with love and sympathy. “A heart of gold stopped beating; Two shining eyes are at rest; God broke our hearts to prove; He only takes the best” Good bye Aunty Emily…you will forever remain in our hearts. • My Auntie .. Emily you had a beautiful way about you. You always thought of me and that's how you were, a thoughtful, kind person. My heart is with Larry as I realize he knows not of me as I live far away and have for many years. This tribute I found very touching. And even tho I'm not there my heart and hugs are with you all who were blessed to have Emily in their lives. Bridget Smith (Chanowski) - Posted by: Bridget Smith (Niece ) on: Mar 03, 2015
