LILIAN MAY RUDY September 29, 1928 February 28, 2015 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Mom passed away in her home peacefully (which was always her wish) with her eldest daughter by her side. She was born in London, England and immigrated as a war bride to Canada with her loving husband. Mom lived a full life and is especially remembered for her many talents. She was the Sunday School Superintendant at St. John's Cathedral for many years. She excelled at sewing, knitting and crafting; just a few of her favourite things to do. All of us treasure sweaters, coats, baby clothes, blankets and much more. Mom loved gardening, spending hours looking after her flowers in a beautifully designed back yard that Dad and her created over the years. Mom loved all animals, in particular her two cats Whiskers and Sweetie who will now be cared for by her daughter Lillian. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Maria Jamieson, Caroline Janz (Loren), Deborah Wallace (Bill) and Lillian Mehmel (Tom) as well as her grand and great-grandchildren: Michael and Lyndsey Jamieson (Alexander, Cassie and Zachary); Tony and Janine Penkoff (Taylor and Quinton), Paula and Kip Redfern (Azalea and Cruz), Chris Penkoff and Reagan (Ayla and Cole); Jen and Ryan Richardson (Layne and Jessa), Andrea and Flent Noel (Mayree and Annae); Tamara Segal (Mack), Thomas Segal; Rebecca and Matt Mehmel. Mom was predeceased by her loving and faithful husband William and her daughters Sandye and Linda (in infancy). The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In recognition of Lillian's support of many charities, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to a charity of choice. We're sure she would smile. God be in my head and in my understanding, God be in mine eyes and in my looking, God be in my mouth and in my speaking, God be in my heart and in my thinking, God be at mine end and at my departing www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I will always remember Mrs. Rudy with fondness in my heart. She was just the sort of woman who became a second mother figure to all her daughters' friends. She was so helpful and supportive to me during the time of my wedding when she volunteered to sew all the pearls and sequins onto the train of my dress and then just 2 days before the wedding rescued the wedding yet again by fixing the bridesmaid dresses. She was so truly talented! I will always have great admiration for her 3-D paper tole pictures because her work was so fine and delicate. In the summer, when her garden was in bloom she would often walk us through it sharing her knowledge of gardening and as busy as she always was, she never failed to make time for her daughters and their friends. She was a truly wonderful woman. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to all the Rudy girls and their families. Sincerely, Shirley and Gord Bray-Mak - Posted by: Shirley Bray-Mak (Family Friend) on: Mar 08, 2015
