ALMA ELIZABETH STIFTER
Born: May 02, 1921
Date of Passing: Mar 07, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA ELIZABETH STIFTER May 2, 1921 - March 7, 2015 Our dear mom, grandma, and granny passed away on March 7, 2015 at the age of 93. We are all so grateful to have had her in our lives for so many years. She will be sadly missed by daughter Sandy (Bob), son Richard (Shelley), granddaughters Jodi (Ian), Shannon (Chris), Lori-Ann, Lindsay (Ian), and her "favourite" (and only) grandson Mark (Kristi). Granny loved welcoming with open arms and sharing her cookies with great-grandchildren Tobin, Ali, Kayla, Ben, Shelby, Mackenzie, and Chance. Alma was predeceased by her husband Bert in 1988, and by her siblings Barbara, Francis, Alex, and James. Alma was especially close to her sister Barbara and they, with their good friend Elsie, enjoyed so many good times and trips together. Mom had an abundance of love for her family. She cheered Rich on and for four years was scorekeeper for his Little League baseball games so many years ago. Retirement years trips of Bob and Sandy's began with her wishes for "a great trip, because you deserve it". The many years between these events are filled with memories of Mom's support and love for all of us. Alma took such pride in her home on Washington Avenue. She absolutely loved Christmas, and many looked forward to seeing her tastefully decorated home each December. With the support of her neighbour Bev and Bev's son Leo she was able to reside there until February, 2012. Her final years were spent at Concordia Place, where she tried her very best to remain as independent as possible. Mom frequently commented on the kindness of the staff towards her, and readily accepted invitations to participate in Recreation activities. Our family will never forget the loving care and compassion extended towards Alma and all of us as we prepared to say good-bye to her in recent days. Mom's positive attitude and energy added fun to Bob and Sandy's camping trips and family vacations to Florida, California, and Nevada and she enjoyed many seasons of Goldeyes Baseball with Rich. As Mom's health declined, she delighted in going for a car ride and stopping at the Dairy Queen for a hot fudge sundae. Mom often said, "Don't cry for me when I'm gone. I've had such a good time". After the tears, our memories of our dear mom, grandma, and granny will always make us smile! In lieu of flowers, donations to Concordia Place - Recreation Department would be appreciated. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Auntie Alma was one of the sweetest ladies we have ever known. We used to often walk from our place to theirs because we enjoyed both her and uncle Burt's company a lot. Something in our relationship changed over the years but we have always kept her memories fondly in our heart. Every Christmas ornaments that were hand made by Alma decorate our house. We often wanted to phone or visit but thought that it would upset her especially as time went by. She has always held such a special place in our hearts though and her generosity will never be forgotten. Our condolences go out to all her family as I know this special lady will be missed not only by her family but by anyone who knew her as you can tell we found out of her passing later but we just wanted to say what a special woman auntie Alma was to us. - Posted by: Sandy and Bob Duffill () on: Nov 08, 2015

We will always remember Alma and the great times we had doing ceramics and having our garage sales. We remember when both Bert and Alma took one of our dog's puppies. They enjoyed many years with the dog. Alma was always greeting us over the fence with a smile and a chat. She always gave us the latest news about her family and especially her grandkids. You all will have wonderful memories of your mom and grandma. - Posted by: David and Sharon samson (Neighbour) on: Apr 07, 2015

Alma your smile and kind heart will be missed by many. As friends and neighbors on Washington Ave. since 1993 we often enjoyed brief talks about life and she loved to tell me I missed a spot when I would be outside polishing my car. Joann and I will say a prayer for the heavens to look after Alma and every time I miss a spot when I am cleaning our vehicles I will think of you Alma. - Posted by: Cam and Joann Asher (Friends and neighbors) on: Mar 15, 2015
