YVONNE LORRAINE GRANT (nee BOUCHARD) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Lorraine Grant on March 7, 2015 at the Riverview Palliative Care Centre, following a short battle with cancer. Yvonne was born June 26, 1941 in Winnipeg to parents Melvin and Minnie Bouchard. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Gary and their two sons, Gary and Ron (Brenda). Also surviving are granddaughter Alana, great-granddaughter Claire, daughter-in-law Susan, sister Penny (Don) Letkeman, brother-in-law John (Marlene) Grant, sister-in-law Brenda (Dave) Parkes, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Music was Yvonne's lifelong passion. She took her first accordion lesson as a young teen and before long she became the teacher. She shared her love of music over the years, teaching accordion, organ and piano to students young and old. Yvonne and Gary were married 52 years, living in Pinawa, MB and Port Alberni and Nanaimo, BC, before returning home to Winnipeg in 2013. Yvonne and Gary liked to travel and especially enjoyed their many cruises through the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. The family would like to express their thanks to the palliative care doctors and nurses who provided care and comfort to Yvonne. As per Yvonne's wishes, a private family interment will take place following cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Yvonne was a great girl. She always had a warm infectious smile for me and we had some very funny games of charades together. Penny and I bawled our eyes out at their wedding..we were both losing our best friends and the minister took us aside and said "Ok you two, have a good cry!" Gary, Gary JR, Ron and Penny I'm sure you'll all remember the great wife, mother and sister she was to you all. RIP Yvonne..you were the best! - Posted by: John Grant (Brother in law) on: Mar 26, 2015

  • The Grants were our neighbours in Pinawa. Mrs. Grant taught me to play the organ. My heartfelt condolences to the family. - Posted by: Samantha Palson (Neighbour ) on: Mar 17, 2015

  • YVONNE WAS SUCH A GIFTED AND TALENTED PERSON. I WAS 16 WHEN SHE GOT MARRIED AND WHEN I SAW HER WALK DOWN THE AISLE I CRIED AND SAID TO MY MOM THAT SHE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LOOKING BRIDE I EVER SAW AND TOLD HER THE SAME IN THE RECEIVING LINE AT THE RECEPTION. SHE USED TO BABYSIT MY BROTHER AND I AND THERE WERE MANY VISITS WHEN THEY LIVED IN ST. JAMES AND THEN RIVER HEIGHTS. IN LATER YEARS WHEN GARY AND YVONNE MOVED TO B.C AND CAME BACK TO WINNIPEG FOR VISITS WITH THEIR FAMILY, HER SISTER PENNY WOULD ALWAYS CALL ME AND ASK ME OVER TO HAVE A VISIT WITH THEM AND WE WOULD SURE TALK OVER OLD TIMES. I WAS SO DEEPLY SHOCKED WHEN PENNY PHONED ME AND TOLD ME THAT YVONNE WAS VERY SICK AND I AM SO GLAD THAT BOTH MY BROTHER AND I GOT UP TO SEE HER BEFORE HER PASSING. TAKE CARE GARY AND FAMILY. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PERSON AND WERE A SUPER HUSBAND TO A WONDERFUL COUSIN OF OURS AND YOU ARE A SUPER DAD TO GARY JR AND RON WHO LOST A WONDERFUL MOTHER.
