Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINE MARGUERITE WALLACE 1939 - 2015 With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Christine Marguerite Wallace on March 8, 2015. Christine was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and was predeceased by her parents Alister and Marney Wallace. Christine is survived by her loving sisters, Alison and Mary, brother Alistair, many nieces, nephews and relatives in Scotland and by her beloved niece Darlene Maxwell of Winnipeg. Christine devoted her professional life to Early Childhood Education and was cherished by the parents and children whom she cared for with love and respect. Her passion for Scottish Country Dancing was unequalled and as a life long member and teacher with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society her absence will leave a void that can never be filled. The Shariff family of Winnipeg are grateful that Christine came into their lives, no words can express our sadness. "It's sair tae bear" Christine, Rest In Peace. One of the first persons I contacted after arriving in Winnipeg from Scotland was Christine . I was given her address by her sister who I worked with leading a Wolf Cub pack in Edinburgh. Christine told me about the Scottish Dance branch in the Winnipeg and invited me to dancing in Assiniboine Park. The rest was history. Without Christine inviting me to the dancing I may never have taken up Scottish dancing on this side of the Atlantic. Christine was such a gracious person and a real lady in the best sense of the word. She seemed to have a calmness about her which soothed those around her. My thoughts go out to her family especially those in Edinburgh and her dance family in Winnipeg. I will never forget you. - Posted by: Charlie Inglis () on: May 11, 2015

In the 1970's together with our mother Joyce, Christine helped make the shop 'Glengarry Scottish Imports' a happening place! Her Scottish brogue certainly helped give the store an authentic Scottish feel! Our parents, Joyce and Larry also became involved in RSCDS for awhile. On a number of occasions, I had the pleasure of piping for the Grand March at one of their dinners. Our paths have crossed many times over the years because of the various Highland events we have all been involved in. After Christine's illness 2 years ago, we were pleased to see her just last summer at Folklorama's new Great Britain Pavilion, and she was looking great. Thinking of you....... - Posted by: Robyn & Janet McCombe (Friends through a "Highland connection") on: Mar 19, 2015

I have known Christine for many years! I met her at Young Parents Community Center, she was an inspiration to the children and families of the center. She always had a smile on her face no matter what or how her day was going! She gave me that push to continue on to further my education to work with children and here I am 30 years later doing what I love and to continue on for you Christine! I want to say rest in peace my dear friend and fly free. We will look after and continue on for you to make sure that all children are cared for! Thank You God Bless! - Posted by: Kathy Fisher (Friend) on: Mar 17, 2015

My deepest condolences to Christine's immediate family, and her 'chosen' family...I know this loss is a void that will be forever felt. Please know you are in my Prayers. My heart is so full of sadness as I process the news of Christine's passing. While our paths first crossed many years ago at the RSCDS Winnipeg Branch; to this day I feel very honoured to have been able to have continued on with a friendship with Christine that I will forever cherish. To me, Christine was the epitome of a true "lady" in every sense of the word. Her heart was full of caring and compassion, and while she still believed in the beautiful tradition of the hand-written note; she was as equally versed in affairs of the contemporary world. In her quiet and elegant pride of her Scottish heritage, she allowed me to be proud too of the common ground we shared. As far too often happens, 'Life' sometimes got in the way of our visits. I am so sorry that we were waiting for the "roads to get better" to get out and catch up over a supper of Indian or Chinese ~ Christine's favourites at our outings. I will miss these treasured times so much. I was just one of many, many people who cared for, and loved you Christine. Thank you for allowing me into your world...I am truly enriched by the privilege. With God's Grace, may you be dancing on air to as many beautiful Strathspeys as you care to. "Yours Aye" wi Love...Alex - Posted by: Alex Todd (Honoured to be a Friend ) on: Mar 16, 2015

Christine was our first Scottish Country Dance teacher in Winnipeg, and it was her inspiration that made us enjoy the dancing so much we continued for 30+ years. Members of RSCDS (Winnipeg), will miss her terribly, as will her many friends. - Posted by: Myrna & Rod McRae (Friends) on: Mar 15, 2015
