EDMUND WITZKE It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eddie Witzke on March 16, 2015 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 65 years old. Left to mourn are his life partner and love Linda Guspodarchuk, his daughters Andrea Wallen (Bobby) and Jennifer Witzke (Cortney), his stepdaughter Dayna Barclay (Michael) and stepson David Guspodarchuk (Joey), and his four beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Mason and Sawyer. Eddie was predeceased by his parents Matilda and John Witzke and his brother Harold Witzke. Eddie had three major loves in his life, his family, his Nascar and his NFL. He had a heart of gold and was always there to help anyone in need. Helping others is what truly fulfilled him, thus leading him to his career with Addictions Recovery Inc. Eddie spent the last seven years working to help others with addictions that he had once battled himself. He spent a lot of time with fellow members of Alcoholics Anonymous and attributed his 37 years of sobriety to them. Eddie loved to laugh and loved to spoil his family. Seeing the people he loved happy is what brought him the most joy and happiness. He will be truly missed. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Addictions Recovery Inc., 93 Cathedral Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 0W7. Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

  • Hey Ed thanks for the great years I knew you in the seventies. I was your best man at your wedding. I got to meet you for coffee at Tims about 4 years ago. Was looking for you to go for a few more. Rest in peace my friend . - Posted by: Nick Grossmeyer (Good friend) on: Apr 21, 2016

  • I met Ed when I came out of AFM, he put up with me for a year before I moved out of ARI. Ed was a very compassionate man with a big heart. He really had a wonderful laugh and he did his best to help those at ARI. Rest in Peace Ed, thank you for your love and understanding. - Posted by: John Van Laar (Friend, mentee) on: Jul 25, 2015

  • Very saddened to read this. Condolences to Linda & Ed's Family. I first met Ed when we worked together at the Limo Company as well. He was "Steady Eddie" you could always count on him. Then years later we had the wonderful chance opportunity to meet at Tim Horton's and from that day onwards until now we continued our friendship. Always enjoyed our e-mails to each other, whether they were funny or spiritual, they always brightened my day. Ed was a very wonderful person to have as a friend and I was fortunate to count him as one. May this gentle giant of a man RIP! You will be missed. - Posted by: Geraldine (Gerrie) Penteliuk (Friend/former Co-Worker) on: Mar 26, 2015

  • His words were powerful- they often opened my eyes and taught how living life in sobriety could be sooo rewarding. He had a great sense of humour, "but that being said", his message was powerful and heartfelt.
