META GESINE BOTTCHER Peacefully with her family at her side, Meta Gesine Bottcher of Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of Herbert Bottcher, passed away at the age of 86 years. Meta was born in Germany on June 17, 1928 daughter of Lena and Harm Lührsen. On March 26, 1949 she married Herbert Bottcher and in 1952 they immigrated to Canada, settling in the Oakville district. Meta was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Winnipeg and a seamstress. Predeceased by her parents, she leaves to mourn her passing her husband Herbert, son Fred (Donna) of Portage and grandchildren Michael and Alana, daughter Helen (Dave) Connelly of Winnipeg, grandchild Kelsey, daughter Irene (David) Hysop of LaSalle, grandchildren Danny, Eric and Christine, daughter Krista (Gerry) Grant of Oakville grandchildren Dillon and Alora and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers John and Oltmann, and five sisters Anna, Janette, Gertrud, Herta, Lore and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date in Oakville Cemetery.
