ARTHUR JOHN ANTOINE January 9, 1931 - March 19, 2015 Arthur has found peace after a lengthy illness. Arthur was predeceased by Clarice, his wife of 43 years, and his sisters, Marie and Linda. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Taisa and Meg; children, Douglas (Teri), Gary (Lyne, Steven and Colin), Jacqueline (Robin), and James; as well as his sister Dorothy and many more loving family and friends. Born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, and raised in St. James-Assiniboia, Arthur enjoyed a variety of careers. From putting up telegraph poles with the CNR, to putting the finishing touches on new homes with Flair Homes. From being a grocer, to a realtor, to being behind the counter at the gift shop at the Viscount Gort. Regardless of what he did, he always had time to chat with family, friends and strangers alike. As a father, grandfather and father-in-law, Art captivated his family with his story-telling, tall tales, sharp wit and easy presence. Arthur had a special relationship with his only grandson, Taylor, and taught him everything from how to play checkers to how to swing a hammer. For his granddaughters, Taisa and Meg, he will be remembered for his birthday calls, his signature red glasses and for when they were young, he would sneak little chocolates to them. Whenever repairs and upgrades were needed, Art was there to save the day, and in his later years he would don his "Super-Visor" cap and share his wisdom to help with whatever project was at hand. There was always time for a cup of Folger's instant coffee and a game of crib. Arthur loved dogs and got great joy from the company of Checkers, Soka, Dharma and Dexter. Service and interment will be held at a later date at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery. Donations in Arthur's name may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
